They're heading back to school. And we’re pretty proud to have helped build some of the places waiting for them.

From childcare centers and academies to schools and higher education spaces, JRC has been building environments for learning for decades.

Because these projects are about more than classrooms, hallways and campuses. They’re places for first days, favorite teachers, new friendships, big ideas and plenty of memories along the way.

Here’s to a great school year and to the students, teachers and staff who bring these spaces to life.

Labor Day is about the people who do the work.

The early mornings. The long days. The coordination, craftsmanship and problem-solving that happen before a project ever becomes a finished building.

Today, we’re celebrating the people behind the progress: our team, our trade partners and everyone who shows up each day ready to build.

Because the work becomes the building.

But the people make it possible.

Happy Labor Day from JRC.

Where’s Amber? 👀

Somewhere between the groundbreaking and the grocery aisle, things got a little… oversized.

Amber found the best seat in the house at our Kroger groundbreaking: perched on a giant shopping cart packed with JRC hard hats.

Because apparently one hard hat just wasn’t going to cut it for this project.

Built for speed. Literally.

Our Ford Pro Elite project in Lansing is going vertical, and if it looks like things are moving fast…they are.

This approximately 5,000-SF commercial truck service facility is a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB). The structural framing, roof and building envelope are engineered as one system, with components fabricated off-site and delivered ready to go up.

The big advantage? Speed.

Once the groundwork is complete, a PEMB can move from foundation to enclosed structure quickly. And for a project like this, getting the building up and enclosed sooner means the work inside can get moving sooner, too.

PEMBs also bring durability, efficient use of materials, flexibility and the large clear spans that make a lot of sense for a commercial vehicle service facility.

But enough about how it works.

Be sure to follow to see how fast it goes up.

DETAIL DAY | Archaeological dig? Not quite.

It may look like we’re searching for ancient artifacts, but those “steps” are actually there for safety.

This is benching: an excavation method where the bank is cut into a series of horizontal levels rather than leaving one tall, vertical face. The stepped configuration helps reduce the risk of soil movement and cave-ins for crews working below grade.

It makes for a pretty cool photo. But what you’re really looking at is one of those jobsite details that has a very important purpose: keeping the people doing the work safe.

No ancient ruins uncovered. Just some really good excavation work.

Building on Solid Ground. Literally.

As students head back to school, we sent a few of our own back to their desks for a refresher on the fundamentals: teamwork, safety, problem solving and communication.

Fortunately, these are lessons they practice every day.

And while our team may be a little old for back-to-school photos, JRC is no stranger to the classroom. Over the years, we’ve helped build and improve schools, academies, childcare centers and higher education spaces throughout Michigan.

Here’s to a great school year and to never being done learning.

First one open. Plenty more to come.

RH Outlet is officially welcoming customers at Hunter’s Square, marking a major milestone in a redevelopment that has been moving fast both on site and behind the scenes.

For JRC, it’s especially rewarding to see the first finished piece of this project open its doors while work continues across the rest of the development.

Crain’s Detroit Business has a great look at what’s happening at Hunter’s Square and what’s still ahead.

The store is part of a $50 million renovation of the former home of Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum and Tally Hall food court.

A lot of Kroger activity is happening across metro Detroit, and we’re proud to be right in the middle of it.

Crain’s Detroit Business recently took a look at three new ground-up Kroger stores moving forward in Dearborn, Commerce Township and Royal Oak.

For JRC, two of those projects are already very familiar.

Our teams are building the new 122,983-SF Kroger in Dearborn and the 103,000-SF Kroger and adjacent fuel center in Commerce Township, representing nearly $74 million in investment between the two developments.

Both projects celebrated groundbreakings last week, and now the work continues toward planned openings in 2027.

It’s exciting to see these projects highlighted not only for the investment being made, but for what they will bring to the communities they serve: new stores, expanded offerings and hundreds of jobs.

We’re proud to be building alongside Kroger as its Michigan footprint continues to evolve.

The Ohio-based grocery chain plans new builds in Dearborn and Commerce Township and close nearby existing stores. A project in Royal Oak is still in the approval process.

We told you we weren’t done with Kroger groundbreakings yet.

Apparently, Commerce wasn’t waiting for us either.

Our second Kroger groundbreaking of the week looked a little different. By the time the ceremonial shovels came out, steel was already rising, the fuel tanks were already in the ground and construction was well underway.

So this one was less about starting the project and more about taking a moment to make it official.

It was great to get the Kroger team, project partners and community together to celebrate what’s taking shape in Commerce Township and the work still ahead.

Two Kroger groundbreakings. One week. Two very different stages of construction.

Now, back to building.
