DFW storm season doesn't care that your power just went out. ⛈️
We've been in houses after bad storms where the fridge is warm, the phones are dead, and the family is sitting in the dark wondering what to do next. A generator inlet and interlock kit changes all of that. You plug in your portable generator outside, flip the interlock, and your essential circuits come back on — safely, legally, and without backfeeding the grid. It's one of the smartest half-day jobs we do.

What's the weirdest thing you've lost power to during a DFW storm? Tell us below. ⬇️

Hardwired or NEMA 14-50 outlet — which would YOU choose for your garage? 🤔
This is the question we get on almost every EV charger job. Hardwired means it's direct to the breaker — cleaner look, higher amperage, no plug dangling off the wall. NEMA 14-50 means it's a plug-in outlet — easier to swap chargers later if you switch brands. Both work. The right answer depends on your panel layout, your charger, and how long you plan to stay in the house. We'll tell you which fits your setup.

Which would you choose — hardwired or plug-in? 👇 Tell us below.

Your panel is the reason your EV charger might not work. Here's what to look for. 👇
We get calls every week from homeowners who bought a Level 2 charger and then found out their panel was maxed out. A 100-amp panel in a house built before 1990 is already working hard. Add a 40-amp EV circuit on top of that and you've got a problem. We assess capacity first, quote the circuit — and if you need a panel upgrade, we tell you upfront. No surprises.

Drop a 👍 if you had no idea your panel could be the bottleneck.

Before you buy an EV charger — check this first. 🔌
Most DFW homeowners buy the charger, then call us. And half the time, we have to deliver news they didn't want to hear: their panel can't handle it. A Level 2 charger pulls 30–50 amps continuously. That's a serious load. We check your panel *before* you spend a dime on equipment — because the panel is the job, not an afterthought.

Save this before you order that charger. 👆

We opened this panel on a job this week and had to take a moment. 😬
Not every panel is ready for a generator. Sometimes we show up to quote a generator install and the real conversation becomes the panel itself — breakers that have been tripped so many times they barely hold, wiring that belongs in a museum, and a box that's been "fixed" by about four different people over thirty years. We're not judging. Houses in DFW have stories. We just make sure the next chapter doesn't involve a fire.

"How big of a generator do I need?" — We get this question every single week. The answer might surprise you.
Here in North Texas, your air conditioner makes the decision — not your square footage. Most whole-home standby installs in DFW land in the 20–22kW range because of what it takes to run a central AC unit in 100-degree heat. Drop to a 10–14kW unit and you're covering essentials only — lights, fridge, a few outlets. Neither answer is wrong. It just depends on what you can't live without when the grid goes down. We do a real load assessment before we ever recommend a size.

You don't have to spend $15,000 to have real backup power. Most people don't know this option exists.
A generator inlet box with an interlock kit is the middle path nobody talks about. You plug your portable generator into a weatherproof box on the outside of your house, flip the interlock, and your panel runs like normal — no extension cords snaking through windows, no backfeed risk to the grid. Most installs wrap up in half a day. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and make sure it's done right. It's not a standby generator — but it's a whole lot better than nothing, at a fraction of the price.

Tag a neighbor who's been running extension cords through their window during outages. They need to see this. 👇

Your neighbor's lights stayed on during the last outage. Yours didn't. Here's why. ⚡
A standby generator doesn't care what time the storm hits. It sits outside your home, ties into your gas line, and kicks on automatically — usually within 10 seconds of the grid going down. No extension cords. No running to the gas station at midnight. No waking up to a fridge full of spoiled food. DFW homeowners are installing these faster than ever, and honestly? After the last few summers, we get it.

Save this post for the next time your power flickers — then ask yourself if you're ready. 👇

If your DFW home was built before 1990, there's a chance your electrical panel is a ticking clock — and you'd never know it.
Federal Pacific panels were installed in millions of American homes from the 1950s through the 1980s — and they're still sitting in attics and garages across Garland, Rowlett, and Rockwall right now. The problem: their breakers are known to fail to trip when they should, which means the protection you think you have may not actually be there. We see these on jobs regularly. If your home is older and you've never had the panel looked at, it's worth knowing what's in there.

Share this with someone whose house was built before 1980 — they'll want to know. 🏠

"How much does an electrician cost?" — Here's the honest answer nobody gives you.
The price of electrical repair isn't random — it follows a pattern. First comes the diagnosis: figuring out what's actually wrong. Then comes the repair: fixing it. Those are two different things, and a good electrician separates them clearly before any work starts. What drives the number up? Scope, materials, access, and whether a simple repair reveals something bigger hiding behind the wall. We walk you through what we find before we touch anything.
