Hope everyone is having an amazing Fri-yay! 🤠 Here are a few recent projects we’ve knocked out around town.

First up, we added shelving to this laundry room. A new little one joined the family, which means storage space suddenly becomes prime real estate! We also added some smaller shelf extensions in the pantry to help organize those tiny items that always seem to disappear. Every inch counts!

Next, we replaced SIXTEEN flush-mount lights throughout a home. The old fixtures were failing and the covers had reached the point where they were more interested in falling off than staying attached. The new fixtures gave the home a nice little upgrade! Bonus: the lights I supply allow you to select different color temperatures, from warm and cozy to bright daylight, so you can choose the atmosphere that fits your home best.

We also replaced multiple GFCI outlets in another home. Some had completely failed, while others showed signs of overheating and burning. Yikes! Definitely one of those things that’s better to catch before it becomes a bigger problem.

Lastly, I already shared the cabinet installation from this project, but the homeowner decided to take it one step further and add a black floating shelf underneath. Cut, painted, installed… chef’s kiss 👨‍🍳👌 Sometimes it’s the finishing touches that really bring everything together.

As always, thank you for trusting Handy Andy with your homes, projects, and growing to-do lists. Have a fantastic weekend

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Today is not just about a day off or the start of summer. It is about remembering those who never made it home, the families who carry their memory, and the sacrifices made so we can live the lives we do today.

Saturday morning, friends, neighbors, and I took part in a Memorial Day run as a small way to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Every step served as a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy came at a cost paid by heroes who gave everything.

Freedom has never been free, and today we pause in gratitude for those who gave all in its defense.

From Handy Andy Home, thank you to our fallen heroes. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Hope everyone had a wonderful week! We’ve been keeping busy over here, so we’re a little behind on sharing projects, but here are a few recent upgrades to get those home improvement ideas flowing.

First up, these beautiful accent walls. Not only do they add a clean, high-end look to a space, but they also help reduce echo and improve sound dampening. So if your home sounds like you’re hosting a basketball game in the living room every time someone talks… this may be your answer. 😄

Next was cabinet hardware installation. One of those small changes that makes a surprisingly BIG difference. As we always say, looks matter, but functionality matters too. When you get both working together, that’s the sweet spot. Clean, practical, and makes everyday use feel just a little more satisfying.

Lastly, this hose spigot officially bit the dust after the vacuum break stopped doing its job. We replaced everything with brand new parts including the spigot, vacuum break, escutcheon plate, and insulation to get it back in top shape.

We also installed these sweet pull-out drawers to help turn wasted cabinet space into usable storage. Because digging through the back of cabinets looking for things should count as cardio at this point. 😂

Always appreciate everyone following along and supporting Handy Andy! More projects coming soon.

Another home, another glow-up. This time we’re shedding some light on a few upgrades. Literally.

First up, this home had a 6’ moveable light that the homeowners strongly disliked… and I’ll be honest, I don’t blame them. Thing could’ve doubled as an interrogation lamp. 😅
We removed it, installed a conversion kit with a clean medallion, and set up a new fixture paired with a dimmer switch. Now the lighting actually works with the space. Perfect for highlighting the artwork without feeling like you’re on stage.

Next, we swapped out a builder-grade dining light for this sharp multi-globe fixture. Big difference here. Softer, more inviting light and about 100x better on the eyes and the room. Amazing what the right fixture can do for a space you use every day.

And finally, we added a sleek new fixture to the home’s chill zone. This room was already looking great, but this was that final piece that ties everything together. Like the cherry on top, if cherries gave off perfect lighting. 🍒💡

If your lighting is still stuck in the “why is this so aggressive?” phase, you know who to call.

Howdy everyone! 🤠

While I usually tackle smaller projects, this one was a full home glow-up focused on one thing… making space actually usable.

Round one: laundry area upgrade 🧺
We assembled a new storage cabinet, built a custom table over the washer and dryer (because folding clothes on top of a dryer doing the cha-cha isn’t ideal), added an upper cabinet for extra storage, and finished it off with a dowel rod for hanging clothes… or getting a quick set of pull-ups in 💪😂

Round two: luggage command center ✈️
Installed heavy-duty floating shelves for some well-traveled homeowners. These were spaced out to handle their largest luggage and built strong enough to hold some serious weight… tested and approved with yours truly as the guinea pig.

Final round: entryway upgrade 👋
Wrapped it up with a custom coat hanger setup, another cabinet for storage, and a bench to make coming and going just a little more comfortable.

Another home, a lot more function, and no wasted space left behind.

If you’ve got areas in your home that should be useful but just aren’t… you know who to call 😉

Another round of home upgrades in the books!

Started off with a mini bathroom refresh — new mirror, light fixture, and cabinet hardware. It’s always the small details that pull everything together… like the finishing touch that makes you go “okay yeah, that looks GOOD.”

Next up, a ceiling fan that decided gravity was optional 😅 Turns out it wasn’t installed properly (don’t worry… wasn’t me lol). Got that swapped out and secured the right way so it’s staying put this time.

Knocked out another dryer vent cleaning — not the flashiest job, but one of the most important. Keeps your dryer running efficiently and helps avoid bigger issues down the road. One of those “you’ll be glad you did it” kind of things.

Also handled some picture mounting. Sounds simple… until you realize crooked frames can ruin your whole day. Measured twice, leveled right, and got everything lined up clean.

Wrapped things up with a few more light fixture installs and these were some solid upgrades. Amazing what better lighting can do for a space.

If your home has a “I’ve been meaning to fix that…” list, you know who to call

If you’ve ever asked me what kind of jobs I enjoy the most, you already know the answer… shelving. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something deeply satisfying about tearing out the old setup and building something solid from scratch.

This one started with the classic wire shelving. It was installed “correctly,” but here’s the thing most people don’t realize. Wire shelves are usually mounted with anchors, not into studs. Anchors are fine… until you actually load them up with real-life stuff. Clothes, shoes, storage bins, that “I’ll deal with this later” pile. Over time, those anchors can loosen and start pulling out of the wall.

So we pulled it all out and rebuilt it the right way.

New custom wood shelving, carefully measured and cut to fit the space. Every support mounted directly into studs. Strong brackets. Solid backing. Built to handle the weight of actual use, not just showroom display. This setup isn’t going anywhere.

And honestly, the best part? Seeing the homeowner light up, already planning how they’re going to organize everything. That never gets old.

If your shelves are bowing, sagging, or looking a little nervous about their future, give me a call. Let’s build something that’ll outlast your wardrobe.

Happy Friday, friends! Hope you all had a solid week and are heading into the weekend strong.

Kicked things off by helping my wife with wedding setup at The Big Red Barn in Pflugerville. Big congrats to the Valentine’s Day couple. Nothing like love in the air… and a husband hauling tables.

Now onto the home projects.

First up, bathroom glow-up. We swapped out some dated fixtures for clean, modern lighting. Amazing what better light can do. It’s like your bathroom had its morning coffee.

Next, pendant lights in the kitchen. Out with the builder-grade basics, in with something that actually makes a statement. Lighting sets the tone more than people realize. If your kitchen feels “meh,” chances are the lighting is part of the problem.

And finally, three older but still-working ceiling fans got replaced with sleek new 3-blade fans. Yes, the old ones worked… but so does a flip phone. Sometimes it’s okay to upgrade.

Last little upgrade that might be my favorite: the pantry light switch was outside the pantry. We moved it inside and installed a motion sensor switch. Open the door, light turns on. Close it, off it goes. We also added an outlet inside to charge a battery-powered vacuum. Small change, big convenience. Make life easier on yourself. You deserve it.

As always, if something in your home feels outdated, awkward, or just plain annoying, there’s usually a simple fix. Let’s make your house work for you.

Five years already?! Somehow Handy Andy RR made it to the 5-year mark without burning the place down… so I’ll call that a win.

Over the years I’ve met so many amazing people and taken on a wide range of projects. Some were straightforward, some had me standing there thinking, “Well… this is a new one.” But every job has been worth it. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has trusted me in their home, around their pets, and with projects big and small. The conversations, laughs, and stories along the way have been just as rewarding as the work itself.

I truly love what I do, and that’s 100% because of you. Your trust, support, and referrals have kept me busy, motivated, and trucking along for the past five years. At this point, I feel like I’ve got extended family all over town, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

And of course, I couldn’t do this without my wife, Karla. She’s been my biggest supporter, my voice of reason, and the one reminding me it’ll all work out when business throws a curveball.

Thank you all for being part of this journey. Here’s to more projects, more problem-solving, and hopefully fewer “how did this even happen?” moments… but no guarantees 😄🔧
