We are proud to share that the City of Austin Domestic Violence Shelter project has been featured as a case study by Austin Energy Green Building. STR Constructors was the General Contractor that finished this project last summer.

This adaptive reuse project transformed a former motel into a 40-room shelter that provides safety, stability, and a path forward for its residents. Through a strong partnership with Austin Public Health, SAFE Alliance, and the design team, the project integrates trauma-informed design with meaningful sustainable strategies.

Achieving a 3-Star Austin Energy Green Building rating was a significant milestone, especially given the constraints of the existing structure. The project highlights include:
• Reuse of the existing building to reduce embodied carbon
• Low and zero VOC materials for healthier indoor environments
• High-efficiency systems and ENERGY STAR appliances
• Native landscaping and resilient site design
• 60% construction waste diversion

STR Constructors is proud to be building the new Aviator Pizza & Drafthouse location in Elgin, TX. This project will bring another great gathering place to the community, known for its handcrafted pizzas, local brews, and welcoming atmosphere.

Construction is well underway, and our team is excited to help bring this space to life. We look forward to delivering a high quality project that will serve the Elgin community for years to come.
