Tired of a different lawn tech showing up every time?

My name is Bradley Burns, and I’m the owner of GreenGuard Lawn Solutions here in Roswell. We specialize in residential w**d control and fertilization.

One thing I hear a lot from potential customers is that they don’t like having a different technician show up on every visit.
With GreenGuard you get the same one every time– me. I personally handle every treatment for every customer.

I also cap the number of lawns I take on, which allows me to provide highly personalized service and treat your lawn like it’s my own.

If you’re looking for consistent, hands-on lawn care, send me a message or visit greenguardlawns.com

W**d control isn’t about spraying more — it’s about spraying at the right time. The goal is actually to use the least amount of chemicals necessary to control the target w**d. Pre-emergent and post-emergent treatments work very differently, and timing them correctly makes all the difference.

For example, pre-emergents for winter w**ds like poa annua and chickw**d are typically applied in late August to early September, before those w**ds germinate. Pre-emergents for summer w**ds like crabgrass are applied in late winter to early spring.

In many cases, a split application is used to provide longer-lasting control, since w**d seeds don’t all germinate at the same time. Proper timing helps prevent w**ds before they ever become a problem and improves long-term results.

Here's a few January tips for your fescue lawn...

Cool Season Grasses
• Remove leaves regularly to prevent suffocation and disease. Trapped moisture can lead to fungal diseases.
• Mow as needed. Fescue performs best around 3 inches tall. Avoid removing more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing.
• Hand pull or spot spray any w**ds with a selective post emergent herbicide labeled for Fescue and the target w**d.
• Water about 1inch per week if there isn’t any rainfall. Always water early in the morning and avoid late afternoon or evening watering.
• Hold off on fertilizing until February.

January is a quieter month for lawn care, but there are still a few important things you can do now to set your lawn up for success later this spring. Below are some simple tips based on your grass type.

Warm Season Grasses
• Remove leaves regularly to prevent suffocation and disease. Even though your lawn is dormant, it still needs sunlight. Leaves can trap moisture, creating an environment conducive to fungus and disease.
• Do not fertilize! Warm season grasses don’t need nitrogen until the spring green-up.
• Avoid “w**d and seed” products. These combine nitrogen and pre-emergent herbicides, which warm season grasses need applied at different times of the year.
• It’s ok to mow if needed, especially if you’re seeing w**ds. Mowing helps suppress w**ds by cutting off seed heads (preferably before they are visible) before they spread.
• Hand pull or spot spray any w**ds using a selective post emergent herbicide labeled for your grass type and the specific w**d you are targeting.
