From Wooded Area to Garden Retreat | Phase 2
Last year, we transformed a struggling lawn into a beautiful shaded courtyard. 🌿
This September, we returned for Phase 2—and this time, we tackled an underused wooded area alongside the property.
We cleared out the overgrowth while preserving the shade and character of the large existing trees, creating two new living spaces: a play area for the grandchildren and a stone fire pit area.
Gravel paths now connect these spaces to the backyard, while large stone steps lead up to the shaded courtyard we created last year.
We finished the spaces with a mix of shade-loving plants, including Japanese maples, Everillo, oakleaf hydrangeas, Acorus, tractor seat plants, anemones, Heuchera, ghost ferns, and Banana Peel anise.
What was once an overgrown wooded area is now a series of beautiful spaces designed for playing, gathering, relaxing, and enjoying the garden.
One garden transformation became the foundation for something even bigger. 🌿🔥 See my youtube page for the full video
