Howdy everybody. Had an interesting phone call just now and thought I'd take a minute and teach you all something....
1) Unfortunately, many plumbers do not understand how a septic really works. If they tell you to get your tank pumped and after speaking with you for awhile, asking questions, I tell you it's not your tank...please take my word over the plumber. I won't tell you how to handle plumbing, I promise. While I will gladly take your money if you insist, I'm going to try to save you money if possible.
2) The tank is always "full". When you tell a septic person that, we are thinking, "yep! I know". The operating level of your tank is about 4-8 inches from the top of the tank and will stay there until it's pumped out. It will fill up with water in about 2-3 days after a pumping depending on usage and size of tank.
3) If you can see the water coming into the tank from the house because you can see your inlet pipe, your tank is fine.
4) If you, the home owner decide to believe the plumber, that's fine. But if you call me names, we will black list you. We will be happy to let someone else take your abuse.😂
Please always call us before the plumber. Most of the time we can tell you whether it's your tank or not by asking a few simple questions. Also, learn about your home. Do you have an ejector pit or sump pit in your basements? Does your sump pit empty into the septic? It shouldn't. Do you know the difference between the 2 pits? Sump pit is ground water from around your house, while the ejector pit ejects used water from laundry or bathroom up to the main pipe going out of the house. That right there tells us a lot when the back up is in the basement. Knowing these types of things can save you money.
Have a good rest of your day. Happy pooping. 💩
