Some projects are about building something new. Others are about protecting what deserves to remain.
Aurora Contractors was proud to be part of the team that restored the historic East Bathhouse at Jones Beach State Park – one of the park’s original structures, first opened in 1929.
Historic preservation requires a different kind of construction approach. It means understanding what can be restored, what must be carefully adapted, and how new systems and amenities can be introduced without losing the character that made the building significant in the first place.
Now reopened after 17 years, the East Bathhouse begins its next chapter with new pools, accessible amenities, modern infrastructure, and renewed purpose – while preserving the architectural details and history generations of Long Islanders remember.
We’re especially proud of our Jones Beach construction team, whose commitment in the field helped navigate the complexities of the restoration, maintain momentum, and bring the vision for this historic structure to life.
It was a privilege to celebrate the grand reopening alongside Governor Kathy Hochul, NY State Parks & Historic Sites, New York State Office of General Services, WXY Architecture + Urban Design, LiRo-Hill, and the many other design, construction, and trade partners who brought this project across the finish line.
A landmark restored, a piece of New York history preserved, and a place built to serve the next generation.
