Before & After: The Cotton Warehouse Transformation
There’s nothing more rewarding as a builder than taking something old, something with real history and character, and giving it new life. That’s exactly what we set out to do with the Cotton Warehouse project in downtown Rome.
This space is now the common area where customers, business owners, and visitors can gather, enjoy, and share community. From day one, my goal was to honor the soul of this 100-year-old building while creating something functional, beautiful, and timeless.
Originally, the bathrooms were designed to have sheetrock covering the walls, but as soon as I saw the original brick, I knew we had to reveal it. That old brick tells a story. A story you can’t recreate, so we stripped everything back and let it shine. The ceiling still carries its century-old character, and instead of hiding it, we embraced it.
To complement the age and charm of the building, I added classic, timeless tile and paired it with black fixtures for a clean, modern contrast. The result is a space that feels both preserved and refreshed...honoring the past while serving the present.
Projects like this are a reminder that craftsmanship isn’t just about building something new. It’s about respecting what came before and letting it be part of the story.
