It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend, co-founder and owner of Designers Point – Arthur (Dick) Minar.
Dick passed away on Tuesday, April 28th after courageously battling cancer following his diagnosis in January of 2025.
In the words of his son, Wesley, “Summing up Dick Minar in a few words is a nearly impossible task, as he had as many sides and facets as a brilliantly polished gem stone. Practical but hilarious, hardworking but fun loving, confident but humble, caring but tough, he was the definition of a well-rounded individual.
Helping others and improving lives was always at the front of his mind, with his business ventures, work with the homeowners association, and chamber of commerce, and in his personal relationships with friends and family. If one of the many people he cared about was having a problem, he would bend over backwards until it was solved.
Indeed, it was his love for those he cared for that kept Dick going through every struggle and triumph. It did not matter what task was at hand, he always gave it his all until it was finished. He tackled all of life with that same indomitable spirit, right until the end. He will live on in all our hearts.”
In the words of his daughter, Thaleia, “…. Dad was an easy man to talk to. He was full of jokes even to his last day. A lifetime of moments weave themselves into the picture of Dad in my head. My fondest childhood memory is Dad reading bedtime stories to me and Wes- Lord of the Rings, Dune, and Narnia, to name a few. I loved listening to him bring the characters to life through his voices as I fell asleep. There are countless other moments through my life that come to mind when I think of Dad, but what’s ever-present in them all is his love and support of me and my choices.…. There aren’t enough words to describe how grateful I am to have had a Dad like him.… Miss you and love you Dad.”
The entire Designers Point team is mourning the loss of our mentor, advisor and dear friend. Our memories include moments of his extreme generosity, his love for the business we built together and his love and concern for all of us. We will miss him tremendously.
Thank you Dick for all you’ve done. We love you.
