❓I get asked on occasion “Are moss poles worth it? Do they really help?”

✅The short answer is yes!!

🪴The long answer is, it depends on the plant. Some plants just like climbing and a moss pole isn’t necessary for them to thrive. They can climb or be trellised on almost anything.

BUT some plants love moss poles as this mimics its natural growth in the wild. It enables the plant to root and receive the moisture and nutrients it needs to create larger leaves and fenestrations (the holes and slats in leaves).

The picture here is of a marble queen pothos I’ve been growing on a moss pole. It’s taken a bit to get the plant to a size where it can root in the pole well, but as soon as it did it TOOK OFF! You can see a very noticeable size difference in leaves and I’m getting a new leaf every week.

“But moss poles are a pain!” They can be, but I can help you figure out a system that makes them very easy. The trick is a drip irrigation spout (and we do sell these) and an empty soda bottle.

You’ll notice I also wrapped the pole in plastic wrap. I did this to help trap moisture in the moss and to keep water from flinging everywhere when I did water it. I open the plastic just a bit more with each leaf.

And yes, I will host a moss pole class as soon as marching band season is done!!

🧶Saturday, Sept 12 -11am-3PM Modern Twists Macrame & More will be here doing a pop-up! She has AMAZING handspun and died yarns and very boho macrame!

📖Thursday, Sept 17 - 5-6pm No Matter What Mobile Library will be here doing a goodnight reading for kids with fun activities and more! Please sign up ahead of time on their event page so we can keep it to a small group.

🎼Saturday, Sept 19 CLOSED! We will not be open! The girls are performing at the Sullivan Marching Band Festival, so come root us on if you're in the area!

🧶Sunday, Sept 20 1-3pm Rustic Knots - Handmade Macrame Class! This class is sold out, but we can't wait to see those of you who are attending! You're going to have a great time. Donna is awesome!

💃Friday/Saturday 25-26 High School Homecoming - For now I don't foresee this affecting our hours, but I will keep you up to date!

🪴Sunday, Sept 27 2-4Pm Terrarium Class!! This event is sold out, but we're really excited to be able to bring this class to our customers and are excited! We will do more FOR SURE once marching band season is over.

🎷OCTOBER - WATCH OUR HOURS VERY CLOSELY. ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND IS A MARCHING BAND COMPETITION AND I WILL CLOSE TO GO SEE MY KIDS PERFORM! The flexibility to work hard for my family but still be able to support them is one of the reasons I opened this business. I know this is will be frustrating for some customers, and I apologize for that, but my kids come first and that I don't apologize for so I hope you all understand.
