Cooler temperatures can actually be ideal for several vegetables. If youโ€™re planting in late August or early September, consider fast-growing, cool-season crops like radishes, spinach, kale, turnips, and Swiss chard.

Keep in mind that planting dates vary across Utah due to differences in elevation, climate, and first-frost dates. Choose fast-maturing varieties and check your local first-frost date before planting. Crops planted this late may also need some protection if temperatures drop quickly.

A little planning now can mean fresh vegetables from your garden well into fall!

Native plants offer much to celebrateโ€”flushes of seasonal color and texture, pollinator and wildlife benefits, and the comfort of watching a beloved plant returning year after year.
Although native perennials are standard components of native gardens, native annuals and biennials offer many of the same qualities of beauty, benefit, and timeless appeal, all while providing some unique advantages of their own.

Join experienced horticulturalist Scott Woodbury for a Grow Native! Master Class webinar examining these lesser-known growth categories of the native plant world, their habitats in the wild, and their uses in the home garden.

Cost: Free to all MPF dues-paying members and Grow Native! professional members, or $15 for non-members. Master class fees go to support our non-profit conservation work. Visit our MPF membership page to become a member and attend all master classes for free!

This webinar, to be held via Zoom, will include a presentation and a live question-and-answer session. As a Master Class, the private MPF YouTube channel recording link will be sent to all registrants following the live event. This private recording will not be released to the general public until 2027.

Wednesday, August 26, at 4:00 p.m. 2 GNPCP CEUs. Register here: https://ow.ly/vxqp50ZvvR5
