DPC TRADE SPOTLIGHT
SSB Heating & Air

This week we’re highlighting SSB Heating & Air, DPC’s trusted HVAC subcontractor for over six years!

One of the most important parts of building a new home happens during the rough-in stage. SSB works closely with our building plans to calculate the proper heating and cooling loads, ensuring the right equipment and airflow for a comfortable, energy-efficient home.

I always joke during our walkthroughs that HVAC vents and air returns aren’t exactly the prettiest features in a home, and they never seem to cooperate with the design plan! 😂 But as much as we’d love to hide them, heating and air are pretty important!

Fortunately, the SSB team works with our homeowners during rough-in walkthroughs to carefully consider vent and return locations, doing their best to keep them from interfering with furniture placement, lighting, draperies and other design details.

The rough-in stage may not be the most glamorous part of building a home, but it’s certainly one of the most important. And having a reliable HVAC company that understands both the mechanical requirements and the homeowner’s vision makes all the difference.

A beautiful home is important, but a comfortable, efficiently heated and cooled home is just as important!

Thank you to the SSB team for helping DPC build homes that will keep our homeowners comfortable for many years to come!

Alan Dietrich
DPC Tile Installer is
OFFICIALLY RETIRED! 🎉

After close to 10 wonderful years as part of the DPC subcontractor team, our talented tile installer, Al, is officially retired!

This morning, he’s waking up on his own watch, lounging in his recliner with a hot cup of coffee, sporting his “Not My Problem” socks, and enjoying the fact that his days are now his own! ☕️😂

Al went out with a BANG! His final project included one of the most intricate tile installations he’s ever done for us, and he absolutely knocked it out of the park! We can’t wait to show you his incredible final work.

Al, we will certainly miss your talent, craftsmanship, and dedication, but we know how excited you and Louanne are to be closer to family and enjoy this next chapter together.

Wishing you both all the best!

Happy Retirement, Al!

DPC TRADE SPOTLIGHT 🔦
Springfield Electric LLC

One of the most important stages of building a new home is the electrical rough-in. So much of the work will eventually be hidden behind drywall, but the decisions made now will impact how homeowners live in their home for years to come.

Meeting electrical codes is a priority, but there’s so much more to consider than just what’s required.

That’s where having a great electrician makes all the difference!

DPC has been fortunate to work with Springfield Electric since 2019, and Andy, who leads the electrical work on our projects, is someone I’ve come to rely on throughout the building process.

Andy doesn’t just think about where outlets, switches and lights go. He’s always thinking ahead and suggesting those little extras homeowners may not realize they’ll want. From additional outlets and specialty lighting to outdoor electrical needs, his suggestions during rough-in can save homeowners time and money down the road.

After all, it’s much easier to add wiring before insulation and drywall than to make changes later!

A good electrician knows the code. A great electrician thinks beyond the code. Andy does both!

Thank you, Andy and the Springfield Electric team, for helping us build homes that are not only beautiful but functional for years to come!

DPC TRADE SPOTLIGHT 🔦

This week’s Trade Spotlight takes us to our Lake Front Cottage Project and two incredibly talented trim carpenters, Ulysses Grant and his brother Eli.

When the homeowners began making plans for their new lake home, one of their subcontractor requests was that we work with Ulysses and Eli. The two had done the trim carpentry in their Oklahoma home back in 2015, traveling long distances for months to help bring that home to life. After seeing their work ethic, attitude and craftsmanship, it’s easy to understand why the homeowners wanted them back to help bring their vision to life once again.

Their work on this home actually began long before the first piece of trim was installed. Ulysses and Eli started meeting with the homeowners and designer in September 2025 to work through the many custom details planned throughout the house.

And there are a lot of details!

Tongue-and-groove walls, custom panel molding, built-ins, detailed door casings, layered crown molding and some pretty incredible transitions from one material to another. Every trim detail required careful thought, measuring and planning—and when it comes to the ex*****on, precision matters.

Take a close look at those mitered corners and how the moldings come together. That kind of craftsmanship doesn’t just happen.

A beautiful design can start on paper, but it takes talented craftsmen to bring it to life. Ulysses and Eli have certainly done that at the Lake Front Cottage.

DPC TRADE SPOTLIGHT 🔦

With The Overlook Project wrapping up, one of the last things we do is install the appliances—or, as I like to call it, AD Day: Appliance Day!

I usually don’t sleep well the night before because anything involving the word installation can be stressful. 😂 There are always lots of questions, and with appliances, there can occasionally be issues involving electrical, gas, plumbing, or even cabinet design.

Fortunately for DPC, John Davidson with Metro Appliances & More makes sure we have Ron Partain handling our appliance installs.

I’ve worked with Ron since my 417 Idea Home days, and in all those years, I can only think of one DPC home where Ron wasn’t the guy who personally handled our appliance installation—and we’ve built over 20 homes! That tells you how long he’s been a part of what we do.

Ron always does his best to make AD Day go smoothly. And if there’s a problem, he goes above and beyond to try to solve it before I ever have to make that dreaded phone call. Somehow, he always seems to have something in his truck that he thinks just might fix it. 😂

It’s tradespeople like Ron—and relationships built over many years—that help us get our homes across the finish line.

Thanks, Ron, for always making AD Day a little less stressful!

And just like that, the No Wake Zone bath is complete! You know, just like they do it on the home shows. 😂 Except this took a lot more time!

It started with a design idea by Jacque Pitts with Jacque Pitts Interiors LLC and a very talented tile installer, Alan Dietrich figuring out exactly how to make that vision happen.

Design and craftsmanship like this take time—lots of precise measurements, calculations, layout and PATIENCE! When you look closely at every tiny tile that had to line up perfectly, you realize this isn’t just tile installation…it’s craftsmanship.

And I’d say they nailed it!!

TRADE SPOTLIGHT | Wonder Faux Finishes

A few weeks ago, we highlighted our talented tile installers. This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Johnny Smith and his team at Wonder Faux Finishes.

Painting is always one of those line items that comes up when setting a construction budget because, let’s be real… everyone can hold a paintbrush and paint a wall—or at least they think they can until the project starts. 😂

On a DPC project, our painters do so much more than simply roll paint onto the walls.

Johnny and his team start by helping determine the best products and finishes for a beautiful, long-lasting result. They work with our homeowners and their designer, looking through inspiration photos, talking through current paint trends, and making sure every color and finish works together throughout the home.

Then the real work begins.

There’s cleaning, caulking, sanding, masking, spraying and sanding again. Walls are prepped. Cabinets are carefully masked. Trim and doors are sprayed, sanded and finished until everything is just right.

Because a beautiful paint job isn’t just about the color you choose—it’s about the preparation and craftsmanship behind it.

It’s not simply putting paint on a wall.

It’s an art. And when it’s done right, you can see the difference.

And stay tuned… In a few months, you’ll get to see their craftsmanship really come to life in one of our current homes. This project will feature multiple colors and finishes, along with one of the latest design trends—color drenching, where walls, ceilings, trim and even cabinetry are wrapped in color.

We can’t wait to show you the finished result.
