Carey, our Director of Business Development, is representing the studio at the Groundworks Natural State Housing Summit—spending the day connecting with housing leaders, developers, and organizations from across Arkansas.

It’s a good day to learn what others are working on, strengthen relationships across the state, and keep Verdant connected to the people and projects shaping what’s next for housing in Arkansas.

Before the concrete comes the groundwork.

This future patio is built up with CMU stem walls, compacted gravel fill, formwork, and reinforced steel, all working together to create a stable base for the lab.

Most of this will disappear once the concrete is pours, but these are the layers that help determine how the finished space performs for years to come.

We joined NWA HBA’s Build(HER) event last night for an evening of connection, conversation, and community with women working across architecture, construction, trades, development, and housing.

We’re always glad to see more room being made for women to connect, share experiences, and strengthen the industry together.

Remember this staircase before the finished treads and railings went in? A little nerve-wracking then… much better now!

Stairs are one of those elements where structure, proportion, material, and detailing all have to come together. What starts as a utilitarian part of construction can become a major architectural feature once the finish work is complete.

Natural light can completely change how a bathroom feels.

Placing a skylight directly over the bathtub brings daylight into the space from above, creates a stronger connection to the outdoors, and gives the tub its own quiet moment without relying on a traditional window.

It’s a small architectural move that changes the entire experience of the room.
