Today, we celebrate the fathers on our team and throughout our community.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures who help build strong families and strong communities.

We honor the men who lead by example, offer guidance and support, and demonstrate the value of hard work both on and off the jobsite. Thank you for all you do and for the positive impact you make every day.

Wishing you a happy and well-deserved Father’s Day. ,

Employee Spotlight: Josh Baldwin, General Manager

At Blakemore Construction, strong leadership starts with understanding people, solving problems, and never being afraid to learn something new. That's exactly what Josh Baldwin brings to his role as General Manager - keeping communication strong, supporting our teams, and helping ensure every project has what it needs to be successful.

Josh grew up in Southeast Wyoming, where his family owned and operated a drywall and painting business. Working from a young age taught him the value of hard work, accountability, and earning what you have. Throughout his career, he has worn many hats— from hands-on trade work to managing teams, overseeing large property renovations, and running seasonal operations in Alaska. Along the way, he developed a passion for operations, project management, and building strong relationships with the people around him.

While paving and grading may be a new industry for Josh, learning the business from the ground up has been one of the most rewarding parts of the role. He has developed a deep appreciation for the knowledge, craftsmanship and teamwork that goes into every phase of the work.

When he's not at work, Josh enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and making memories with his fiancée, Mary Catherine. Whether it was running operations in Alaska, traveling through Europe for six months, or taking on a new challenge here at Blakemore, he's always been someone who embraces adventure and growth.

We're excited to have Josh leading alongside our team and look forward to the experience, energy, and perspective he brings to Blakemore Construction.

Planting the Seeds for Future Careers

We recently welcomed students from Goochland County Public Schools' Young Engineers Construction Camp to our Rockville yard for a behind-the-scenes look at the road construction industry. The students explored our equipment, watched machinery in action, climbed into some of our trucks, and learned about the work that goes into building and maintaining the roads in our communities.

To wrap up their visit, everyone enjoyed a picnic-style snack before heading back to camp. We were excited to share our passion for construction and hope we helped inspire the next generation of builders, engineers, and problem-solvers!

Building Better Roads. Protecting What Surrounds Them.

World Environment Day is a reminder that every construction project has a responsibility beyond the pavement. From erosion and sediment control to stormwater management and responsible site practices, our team works every day to help protect local waterways, wildlife habitats, and surrounding communities while building the infrastructure people depend on. Because building for the future means protecting it, too. , ,

Like birds on their annual migration, traffic cones travel in packs and flock to road construction sites when warmer weather arrives. Their distinctive orange-and-white coloring makes them easy to spot in their natural habitat.
