We are so proud of this one. 🙏

Henrico County just shared the full story of the road restoration project at Historic Woodland Cemetery — and we couldn't be more grateful to have been part of it.

This summer, Liesfeld Contractor donated the demolition and repaving of the main roads at Woodland Cemetery, right here in Henrico. The cemetery is the final resting place of Arthur Ashe, John Jasper, Dr. Zenobia Gilpin, and an estimated 30,000 Black Richmonders and veterans. The roads are back to the way they looked when the cemetery first opened in 1917.

None of this happens without great partners — Henrico County, the Woodland Restoration Foundation, the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, Barton & Boyd Paving, and Gillies Creek Industrial Recycling all had a hand in making this happen.

As John Mitchell of the Woodland Restoration Foundation put it: "You can see more flowers. That indicates that more people are coming out here."

Liesfeld Contractor and its affiliated company Gillies Creek Industrial Recycling supported the road improvements after contacting county officials a year ago in hopes of identifying a community project in eastern Henrico.

We are proud to share this story.

Earlier this summer, Liesfeld Contractor donated our labor, equipment, and expertise to partner with the Cemetary and Henrico County to repave the main roads at Historic Woodland Cemetery — the final resting place of Arthur Ashe, John Jasper, Dr. Zenobia Gilpin, and thousands of prominent Black Richmonders and veterans who helped shape this city.
The roads hadn't been in this condition since 1917. Now they are.

This project came together through a great partnership — Henrico County connected us with the Woodland Restoration Foundation after we reached out looking for a meaningful charitable opportunity in the east end of the county. From there, it took careful planning between all three organizations to make sure the work was done right, in a place that deserves nothing less.

A special thank you to our project partners Barton & Boyd Paving and Gillies Creek Industrial Recycling, who also donated their time and resources to make this happen. Barton & Boyd handled the paving, and Gillies Creek supplied the base material and managed debris removal — keeping the full project footprint right here in the community.
Additional funding was provided by a grant from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation and Henrico County.

Giving back to the communities we build in has always been part of who we are — from the Arthur Ashe Monument to the slave burial grounds in Richmond, from Henrico CASA and Henrico Youth Sports to the Henrico Education Foundation. This one hits close to home.

If you've driven past the Rockville exit on I-64 recently, you may have already spotted it.

The new Liesfeld Contractor headquarters in Goochland is becoming a fixture on the skyline — and the calls and messages from people noticing the build have been a great reminder of just how far this project has come.

This photo is about a month old, but we're already at the halfway point. What started as cleared ground is rapidly taking shape into the foundation for the next chapter of our company.
Here's what's going up:

— 3-story building | 11,554 sq ft of new construction + 3,000 sq ft of renovation
— Expanding from 16 to 42 workspaces
— Improved collaboration areas, conference rooms, and client-facing spaces
— $5M investment in our people, our operations, and our future

Delivered by General Contractor Commonwealth Construction Management, with architecture by Michael Pellis and civil engineering by Philip Parker Jr.

Alongside our White Oak Office & Laydown Facility in Richmond's East End, this headquarters strengthens our operational footprint across Central Virginia and positions Liesfeld for the next generation of growth.

🏆 Big night for Liesfeld Contractor at the 25th Annual GRACRE Real Estate Awards!

Congratulations to the entire team behind Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront — winner of Project of the Year! We're proud to have delivered the full site work package for this transformative addition to Richmond's riverfront.

This project continues Liesfeld's long history of shaping Richmond's riverfront, with past contributions including the CoStar Campus, Federal Reserve Parking Deck, MeadWestvaco, and more. It's a stretch of the city we've helped build — quite literally — for decades.

A nod as well to Sauer Industrial Center — another Liesfeld project — recognized in the Industrial Lease Transaction category.

Huge thanks to our partners, our crews, and GRACRE for celebrating the work shaping Greater Richmond. From the ground up — literally — we're honored to be part of it.
