Structural steel has been topped out at the Calvert County Administration Building! This week we celebrated this major project milestone with our talented and dedicated team of subcontractors led by Strait Steel and R&J Erectors. We were also joined by our partners at Colimore Architects and the local Calvert County commissioners, administrators, and officials who eventually will work in the CAB!
When finished in 2025, the 103,000 SF building will stand 4 stories tall plus a mechanical penthouse and will bring together departments from all aspects of the County government.

This renovation and expansion project consisted of a 6,000 SF addition to the front of the existing building, which includes structural improvements for the construction of a new inviting narthex or gathering space, parish offices, a conference room, and an adoration chapel. Roughly 2,400 SF of the building's existing sacristy, adoration chapel, and crying room were renovated and converted into an updated sacristy space, new confessional spaces, and rooms for layman/women and servers.
The Forrester Team also reconfigured and added new MEP Systems, provided site improvements to the parking lot and new sidewalks, installed ADA ramps, and provided landscaping improvements.
Now open to the church community, this newly renovated building allows more spaces for worship and reflection, emphasizes the beauty of the faith, and provides greater visibility and resources for the Religious Formation Program.
Thank you to the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington and Franck & Lohsen Architects for partnering with us on this meaningful project. We appreciate all our subcontractor partners for their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and hard work in completing this renovation and expansion project.

Congratulations to our building partner, JP Industries, for winning a Washington Building Congress Craftsmanship Award in the category of Finishes|Drywall for their work on our M2 Orthopedics - Harborside Surgery Center!
Arguably, the most impressive aspects of JP Industries' work will never be seen by the end user. This includes wall and ceiling framing as well as the smooth installation of drywall/cement board substrates used for wall tile and millwork. The quality of JP's work allowed the finish trades to achieve high-quality results as well. More importantly, the precision of JP Industries' wall/ceiling layout, framing, and finishing was critical to the successful installation of sensitive medical equipment used at this ambulatory surgery center.
With an aggressive schedule to accommodate the owner's needs to move in quickly, JP Industries performed their work efficiently and with high quality, resulting in a beautiful surgical center with minimal punchlist.
This week, Forrester Construction had the opportunity to participate in 8th grade Career Day at Potomac Shores Middle School!
This Annual Career Day allows students to learn about various career paths and opportunities in a variety of industries. We are proud to be amongst multiple Associated Builders and Contractors - Virginia Chapter member companies that introduced students to careers in construction!

We recently gathered with Kensington Senior Living, Moseley Architects, and other building partners to celebrate the start of our Kensington Bethesda project!
The new senior living community will be roughly 160,000 SF, featuring apartment-style assisted living units, underground parking, and outdoor spaces like terraces and patios. Welcoming amenity spaces throughout the building will include commercial kitchen and laundry spaces, multiple dining areas, spas, activity rooms, and more.
Meeting several residents of neighboring Kensington communities, like The Kensington Reston and The Kensington Falls Church (both past Forrester projects), during this Groundbreaking Ceremony was extremely meaningful to our team.
We are proud to play a part in building another beautiful Kensington Senior Living project and are excited to see this become home for many community members.
