Q&A:
Which is more important PSI or GPM?
PSI and GPM are both equally important when choosing a pressure washer. The PSI refers to the amount of pressure and GPM refers to the flow. You must have the correct combination of PSI and GPM to have the most ideal pressure washing system for your needs.

To clean effectively, a pressure washer must provide a "stripping" action to scrub off the dirt and "flow" to move the dirt away. Think of the pressure (PSI) as the stripping force that is applied to the surface you are cleaning and the flow (GPM) as the rinsing power that carries the dirt away.

PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) refers to the amount of cleaning pressure that the unit can produce.

GPM (Gallons per Minute) is the amount of water that is coming from the unit.

Cleaning Units (CU) is the result of multiplying the PSI by the GPM. Cleaning units gives the customer a measure of unit performance (efficiency) to compare one unit to another. Cleaning units is calculated by multiplying PSI and GPM.

For example:

A pressure washer with 3000 PSI and 2.0 GPM has 6000 Cleaning Units
A pressure washer with 2000 PSI and 3.0 GPM also has 6000 Cleaning Units but the rinsing power is greater than the stripping power.
GPM is usually more important to contractors than PSI. Since most contractors use cleaning chemicals to do all of the cleaning, their job becomes one primarily of rinsing the dirt away.

Two years ago I was planning a trip to Texas to deliver equipment for R.J. BOWERS DISTRIBUTORS. Plans changed as my wife reacted to a FB post to adopt a dog that was rescued from the rural roads of south Texas. Plans changed again when the customer requested delivery of a second pressure washer outside of St Louis which meant I had to stop at the Karcher warehouse in Arkansas on the way back to pick up the unit to deliver it. Plans changed a third time when my wife wanted to adopt a second dog that was wandering with the first one. By this time she planned on coming with me. Leaving late Saturday afternoon we spent some time in St Louis then got delayed Sunday by a flat tire but ended up making stops along US 66. Early Monday morning I made my first equipment delivery in Milford, TX then headed to Buc-ee's in New Braunfels, TX to meet the foster mom and pick up two white monsters. After an hour, Blanca & Tallulah hope into our car and drove off heading home wondering how I was going to get a pressure washer in the car with two large dogs. Tuesday we made a stop in Fayetteville, AR to pick up the pressure washer, drove to Okawville, IL to make the delivery and continued home arriving very early Wednesday morning. During the whole drive back you never knew we had two dogs in the car.

After two years and covered with white hair everywhere, Blanca & Tallulah have been more than what we had expected. They have become weekly visitors here at R.J. BOWERS DISTRIBUTORS. Thank you all for your remarks when we post their visits at our place of business. When people say they chose a good home I say a good home chose them.

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY KIDS!
