Another Before and After Monday!

Warren Place was actually part of a much larger project with the MetroRock Housing Connection in Silvis, IL, but we wanted to feature this duplex rehab! Work included:
🏗️ Complete interior and exterior gut rehabilitation
☢️ Installation of a radon mitigation system
🧱 Foundation wall repairs to address structural and building envelope needs
We have completed numerous rehabs on multiple buildings for almost a hundred housing authorities over the years, and we can do the same for you, be it a housing authority, municipality, or developer project!

1919 SPOTTED!

Eric Olson is our Florida construction administrator, but when he's not working, he's visiting iconic baseball fields, specifically the one featured in the film: Field of Dreams!

Fun Fact: Eric is wearing a 1919 shirt, partially due to a scandal discussed in the film called the 1919 Black Sox Scandal. What happened exactly?
During the 1919 World Series, eight players from the Chicago White Sox were accused of deliberately playing poorly and helping the Cincinnati Reds win after allegedly accepting money from professional gamblers.
A scandal indeed, but a funny coincidence that this occurred the same year our firm was founded!

Consistency is key!

When the Rock Island Housing Authority asked us to design seven new townhomes, it was required of us to make it match the historic neighborhood it would reside in. And we did just that! A few key elements of the project included:

🛏️ Four 3-bedroom single-family units
🛏️ Three 2-bedroom single-family units
🏡 Open-concept floor plans designed for comfortable living
🛋️ Carpeted bedrooms for added comfort
🪵 Wood-look laminate flooring in the main living areas
🍽️ Each unit includes a dishwasher, refrigerator, and stove
🧺 In-unit washer and dryer provided
🌡️ Separate heating and air conditioning systems in each unit

Do you need some townhomes designed for your next project? We've done it before, and we can do it again with the same level of consistency and care!

RFQ? Real ones know that that stands for Request for Qualifications! It’s often how housing authorities or other government entities advertise that they are looking to get work done by licensed, professional architecture firms. And when they’re due, it’s go time! It’s our way of sharing with the prospective employer our skills and what we can bring to the table that our competitors cannot!

That's a goodlooking building right there.

1919 Architects has served the Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb, for many years, so it's no surprise they were ready for an office facelift!

When a building is aesthetically pleasing, it lifts morale, besides making necessary improvements. Fun Fact: we have been working with housing authorities since the 1960s, and have worked with over 30 housing authorities in Illinois alone!

With that in mind, does your office need a little morale boosting? We would love to help!

It’s 815 Day again!
We’ve been in the 815 since the very beginning of our firm!
Started by Jesse Barloga in 1919 (hence our name), according to our records, his first office was in the Rockford Trust Building on 710 Wyman Street. Though we have moved around Rockford a few times since then, we are still proud to call the 815 our home, and continue Jesse Barloga’s legacy. HAPPY 815 DAY! Let’s continue to be a part of the reason that makes this part of Illinois great-one-five.

We always love to share Safe Passage updates!

To those who may not know, Safe Passage is an organization focused on providing services to those experiencing domestic violence, and are located in DeKalb, Illinois. 1919 Architects has been involved in providing Architectural Services for their new domestic violence shelter, and we were invited to attend their new groundbreaking with general contractor Gehrke Construction!
Both Joe and Ron (pictured here), have been instrumental through each phase, and are proud to be a part of this meaningful project!
