I took off Thursdays in October to do all the garden work that has been severely neglected for months...so, yes, of course it has rained all day every Thursday in October. We are running out of time, so this crazy hosta guy is going to be wet, cold, and muddy today.

I don't want to admit that the garden season is almost over, but Fall is definitely here in Rockford, Il.

Started the day with some Pumpkin Pie Spice on my coffee from Penzeys and some Pumpkin Brioche Twist bread from Trader Joe's. Not a bad way to start the day!

Hello, my name is Rob and I have a problem...I buy more plants than I have time (or space?) to plant!

It was a busy weekend, but 3 yards of dirt are moved and 3 new grow beds are ready for plants. The new ones that I got this year will go in one (cause the whole time and space thing and don't have garden spots ready for them), some old seedlings will go in one and the other will have divisions for next year's auctions!

Since I got my homework done, here are some pretty plant pics. What is still looking good in your garden?

Tonight, 9 pm (10 minutes on zoom).

I have a project for my Master of Social Work Research Class - I need to practice interviewing someone for 5-10 minutes (it will be very quick). Coming here, because my opening question will be, "Why do you love gardening?" We will see where the conversation goes from there before we run out of time. If you want to help me get my homework done - let me know and I can send a zoom link when I get back from running to pick up my very late dinner.

I thought about doing one last auction for the season, but decided that wasn't how I wanted to spend the rest of the weekend, so started getting some plants ready for next year auctions. Lakeside Fancy Pants is such a beast of a hosta!

I normally would leave leafs on and stake up, but decided to experiment and see how they do.

This new grow bed will be full in the next couple weeks with plants for auctions next year, mostly for the Midwest Regional Hosta Society Convention in Rockford, IL July 8-10, 2027.

Thankfully, with good lights, the garden still shows off when you have a long day away at work! Oh, and I came home to hosta mail I didn't know was here!

The garden has been neglected for weeks and the posts have been sparse. Life has been busy. Thanks to my wife's support and understanding that I needed support to get past the overwhelm, I spent 6 hours today filling garbage can after garbage can with weeds. The advantage to letting them grow 7' tall is you don't have to bend over as much to pull them!

Lots of watering today, if you are dry like us go run your sprinklers, you don't want to end the season dry.

Hey all, if you're like me then you have been neglecting your garden (if you are dry like us then go water!) I have had very little time and the little time I have had for myself in the evening, I have been relaxing trying out my new drum. Still A LOT to learn and really need to figure out how to mic cause it is so much richer and better in person.
