Good afternoon, everyone,

Many of you have either worked with or know Mike Peterson from Stillman Valley Pools. A few days ago, Mike let me know that he is retiring from the pool business. As many of you are aware, he has been dealing with some health issues over the past few years, and I wish him nothing but the best moving forward. His retirement came on short notice, and he already had some pool openings scheduled. I will do my best to help out where I can and assist as many of those customers as possible.

With that being said, I’ve recently brought on a helper who will be available most days of the week. My goal is to take on as many of Mike’s customers as possible and continue providing reliable service.

For my above-ground pool customers, I’m asking that covers be pumped off and cleared of debris prior to my arrival for your opening. This helps in two important ways:

1. It allows debris to dry out and be removed more easily
2. It helps me move through openings more efficiently, giving me greater flexibility to schedule everyone in a timely manner

If you do not currently have a cover pump, please feel free to reach out—I’m happy to recommend some good options. I’ve encouraged above-ground pool owners for years to invest in one, and this is exactly why.

Additional note: If anyone knows of someone who may be looking for part-time seasonal work, please feel free to send them my way.

Thank you all for your understanding and continued support. I’ll keep everyone updated as we move through the season.

🌊 JnT Pool Service – 2026 Season Update 🌊
As we head into the 2026 season, I want to be upfront with everyone about what this year will look like.

First, I want to thank all of our customers for your continued support — it truly means a lot.
Michael, who has been with me the past two seasons, has accepted a full-time position with an electrical company and is working toward joining the electrical union. I’m proud of him and wish him the best. With that said, I will be operating without a full-time seasonal helper this year.

👉 What this means for the season:

I will still be handling a portion of spring openings myself and will continue taking bookings
For openings, I’ve teamed up with an experienced crew that handles both above-ground and in-ground liners to help support the workload
Scheduling will be tighter than previous years, so getting on the list early is important
Finding reliable help has not been easy, and realistically, it may not get easier once the season is in full swing. Because of that, I’ll be evaluating how to best move forward while still maintaining the level of service you expect.
I do have some ideas on how to adjust the business model, but I’m going to let the season play out before making any major changes.

🔧 Important Liner Warranty Update 🔧
Liner manufacturers have recently updated their warranty policies.
We’re seeing more issues across the industry related to:
High chlorine levels
Automatic cover pools
Pools with salt/chlorine generators
These factors can affect liner life and may impact warranty coverage in certain situations.

👉 If you have questions about how this could affect your pool, please reach out to me directly — I’m happy to walk you through it and help you protect your investment.
There’s a lot to navigate this season, and I will keep everyone informed along the way.
As always, I appreciate your continued support and understanding.

📅 If you haven’t scheduled your opening yet, now is the time!

A few weeks ago I decided to try my hand at something I don’t usually mess with… spas.
And instead of starting small like a normal person, I figured, “Let’s jump straight to one of the biggest ones you can toss under a crane.”

So there we were—me, a massive spa, and a crane working right at the edge of its comfort zone.
Did I ease into the spa world? Nope. I went full send.

But hey… it cleared, and that still counts as expert-level precision in my book. 😄💪🛠️

If the electric for your pool pump looks like this. Please stop using the pool and call a licensed electrician.

National Electrical Code (NEC) mandates that pool pump cords be no longer than 3 feet (914 mm). Additionally, the receptacle for the pump must be a minimum of 6 feet from the inside edge of the pool. The receptacle should also be GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected and a twist-lock type. The cord itself needs to be a 12/3 AWG (American Wire Gauge) with a grounding-type plug.

Opened both of these pools today. I had closed them using a granular based product that contains a non-chlorine based shock, algaecide, and a clarifier. These pools have never opened so clear, and I can't wait to see the other pools that were close using this product.

FYI. Pentair will have a price increase of 4% on June 1st.

03/25/2025

To our valued customers:

Several major manufacturers have announced upcoming price increases effective this April. These changes are part of an ongoing industry trend that began during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, we’ve seen manufacturers raise prices an average of twice per year, with increases averaging around 3% each time.

These continued increases are driven by rising production, materials, and shipping costs.

🔧 Here’s what’s scheduled for April 2025:

Pentair (including Pleatco): ~3% increase – Effective April 6th

Coverstar: ~3.5% increase – Effective April 6th

Hayward (including Paramount): ~3% increase – Effective April 21st

Regal Beloit (Century Motors): ~5% increase – Effective April 1st

Solenis: ~4.5% increase (VS Motors up to 7%) – Effective March 14th

Waterway Plastics: ~5% increase – Effective April 1st
⚠️ Some Waterway spa pumps and above ground systems already increased effective immediately

💡 What this means for you:
If you’re planning any pool renovations, liner replacements, or equipment upgrades, this is the best time to lock in current pricing before these increases go into effect. Orders placed and scheduled to ship before the effective dates may still qualify for pre-increase pricing—while inventory lasts.

We’re here to help you get the most out of your pool investment and avoid paying more later in the season.
