Big things are happening at the Eugene Hotel, and we couldn’t resist sharing a few moments from above. This historic landmark is in the middle of a major glow‑up as we blend thoughtful preservation with the systems it needs for its next chapter.

From rooftop glam shots to precision crane choreography, every step brings this building closer to renewed community use. Huge thanks to J&J Mechanical for the smooth lift — modern upgrades delivered sky‑high and installed with care.

As a firm rooted in preservation, planning, and historic tax credit consulting, we love guiding buildings like this into vibrant new futures. The Eugene Hotel is getting ready for its next act, and we’re excited to share the journey.

This new park in Sterling is a beautiful example of community-driven transformation, and we’re proud to have designed the shelter amongst all the park’s amenities to provide shaded relief from summer activities, a stage for performances, and outdoor heated coverings during the winter months. The building will accommodate restrooms, lockers, Zamboni storage, mechanical and storage space.

Grateful to be part of the Riverfront Reimagined vision and excited for what’s ahead for Sterling!

We had the pleasure of designing a workspace that’s anything but ordinary for Huiskamp Collins Investments. This project blends unexpected textures, bold patterns, and a global point of view, resulting in a space that feels both grounded and adventurous.

It’s always exciting to work with clients who want their environment to reflect who they are and how they work. This one was all about personality, purpose, and a little bit of edge.

Thank you Anna and Nels Akerlund for always being so great to work with on photography projects. For such a large project as the new Rockford Public Library Main Branch, we had a list of over 50 sample shots. After multiple scouting trips we narrowed the list down to 18. We spent all day photographing the interior a couple weeks ago and are excited to share the results. Special shout-out to Lara @ RPL for opening the building for us on a Sunday and helping us throughout the day. More photos to come! The building looks amazing, don’t you think?

Ashley was recently appointed to the Rockford Mass Transit District board and is excited to serve the community in this new capacity! Reliable and safe transportation is critical to our community for accessing jobs, healthcare needs, educational opportunities and more. Her background in urban planning, advocacy for safer streets, and passion for our community align her well for this new opportunity. Thanks for serving Ashley!

We couldn’t be happier for Brad and Sue Roos on the recognition of their Midtown Faust building rehabilitation project. Years of hard work and perseverance were outlaid on this project and the Midtown neighborhood of Rockford, Illinois is the benefactor.
