Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001- the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders who ran toward danger when everyone else was trying to escape.
This day carries a particularly personal meaning for our family. Before Davies Builders became our full-time focus, Jay spent many years in public safety and served as a Fire Chief. He knows the commitment, brotherhood, sacrifice, and responsibility that come with answering the call to serve.
On September 11, firefighters, along with law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, members of our military, and countless others, showed extraordinary courage. Many more first responders and survivors have continued to live with the physical and emotional consequences of that day in the years since.
As dog lovers, we also want to recognize the K-9 teams and their handlers who worked alongside first responders during the search-and-recovery efforts. Their bravery, loyalty, and unwavering devotion are another part of that day’s story that should never be forgotten.
9/11 is more than a date in history-it is a reminder of the people who left home for work that morning and never returned, the families who waited for calls that never came, and the men and women who stepped forward without knowing what the next moment would bring.
Today we remember them.
We honor their courage.
We are grateful for every first responder who continues to serve our communities.
And we pray we never forget the unity, compassion, and willingness to help one another that followed one of our nation’s darkest days.
