Budget-Friendly Bathroom Refresh

Sometimes a space doesn’t need a full remodel to feel brand new.
This bathroom refresh is a perfect example- no demolition or construction. Just thoughtful updates that completely transformed the feel of the room.

The original space was done in cool gray and white tones. For the refresh, that still feels light and fresh, but with a deeper, more moody, elevated atmosphere.

We used Magnolia paint color “Juniper Tree” in a matte finish to add soft depth and richness. Then we layered in gold faucet and hardware and lighting fixture finishes to warm everything up and add a subtle, upscale contrast.

The owner loved the existing artwork and didn’t want to replace it, so we kept it and pulled a coordinating color directly from it to guide the new design direction. That small connection helped everything feel intentional and pulled together.
Simple updates, small and thoughtful changes, can completely shift how a room looks and feels.

Before & After: Smart Use of Space

The original guest bathroom was long and inefficient, with a small shower and laundry area, all taking up valuable square footage.

By relocating the laundry elsewhere and removing the extra shower, we were able to use that space for a larger kitchen and walk-in pantry.

The guest bath itself is small but fully functional. To elevate it, we added floor-to-ceiling textured stone tile, clean lines, and a neutral palette of dark grays and whites for maximum impact.
Small space. Big wow.

Design tip:
When square footage is limited, vertical design and high-impact materials can make a small space feel anything but ordinary.

Project Update: East Grand Rapids Renovation

We’re having so much fun working with this amazing young family and their great taste makes it even better. Here’s a peek at the progress so far on their kitchen and pantry, and we couldn’t be more excited about how it’s coming together.

Jay opened up the space, adding beautiful arched entryways and creating so much more functional living for this active family. And they didn’t stop at the kitchen. This project also includes a refreshed main-floor bathroom, a huge pantry and laundry area, custom living room shelving, and even a dining room refresh (thanks to a surprise plumbing issue caused by a few adventurous little boys and some bath toys 😉).

What we love most? The trust this family has placed in us and their ability to roll with the punches. (Yes, this is the family who put a bounce house in their demoed kitchen!)

We can’t wait to share the before-and-after photos when this project is complete. This sweet family already has a future wish list of items for Davies Builders and we’re excited to continue to work with them!
