Seed in fall? I agree, but in northern border states late summer is better. Snowtime can be as early as Halloween some years.
This is a national publication where: for many states, mild fall weather lasts longer. https://www.familyhandyman.com/article/best-season-for-reseeding-lawn/?

Reseeding your lawn from time to time is important, especially if it gets a lot of wear and tear. Learn how to do it and why fall is the best time.

I spent a good chunk of my thirties buying expensive wooden planters that rotted out after five seasons. Then I realized the best garden material in the world is usually sitting in a skip, completely free. Old, mortar-stained bricks. People haul them to the tip by the truckload because they look a bit messy. But here's the thing they don't realise: clay bricks hold heat like a cast-iron radiator. If you stack them in one very specific arrangement, they capture the sun, warm the soil, and trick your seeds into thinking spring arrived a month early. Wood rots. Plastic cracks. A solid clay brick outlives us all. I’ve found a couple dozen ways to put these cast-offs to work around the plot over the years. But there’s one particular project that completely changed how I grow my early crops. It takes a single afternoon. Costs absolutely nothing. And it’ll still be producing food long after we’re gone.

Two full days… Hundreds of invasive shrubs… One big impact! 💚

From August 4–7, more than 1,000 Amway volunteers supported 40+ local community partners across West Michigan — and our parks department was lucky to be one of them!

For years, our stewardship team has wanted to tackle the dense stands of autumn olive, barberry and bittersweet in the beautiful forests of north Townsend Park. Amway staff stepped up and made it happen! They followed flagged invasive shrubs over the river and through the woods, working to permanently control these unwanted plants and make room for native oaks, white pine and other species to thrive.

Thank you, Amway, for getting your hands dirty and helping us keep our ecosystems healthier for the people and wildlife that call our parks home! 🌳
