We had so much fun last year let’s do it again! Oktoberfest Rock Island is on October 3rd from 12:00-10:00pm. Katy's Import Foods will be providing all your favorite food, brats, pickles, sauerkraut and something different this year Leberkase (it’s like a bologne sandwich). We will have of course hot dog baskets and pretzels and plenty of German B**r provided by Euclid Beverages. Hammerschlagen will be in the front lawn sponsored by Stella Sawmill. German Music from 12:00-4:00 with the Guttenberg German Band. Quad City Rock Academy will be performing from 5:00-7:00 and then Funktastic 5 will close out the night. Admission is free from 12:00-4:00. Tickets at the door are $15.00 at 4:00, presale tickets on Humanitix for $10.00 https://events.humanitix.com/oktoberfest-rock-island-fg7zfyg3.

What’s Happening At Hauberg! Trees Forever gave us a grant, so we bought trees, a lot of trees, I think 130 of them. We had until December to spend the money, but since United Way Day of Caring is Thursday and we have 140 volunteers, why not get them now and have volunteers help plant. You might think, that’s a lot of trees and it is, but there were very few trees left on the Jens Jensen design and since we are putting his design back in, we will still need more. Trees Forever had most of our trees on their list, American Elm, Hemlock, Witch Hazel, etc…. You might see bushes in these photos (Hauberg bought those, the grant only pays for trees) Thank you Trees Forever!

Then there is all the stone, which came from the Rock Island court house that was taken down and the RIBCO stage…..and what are we doing with that, you might ask. Hauberg Children’s Art Garden will have raised vegetable beds that will never deteriorate and they will also have quite a history. Benches will be made out of all the stone also and will go in the garden. Stay tuned….new shed and a story about the conservatory. Hauberg Estate….the keeper of local history ❤️

Another Lost Shaker Of Salt Party in the books! Thank you to everyone who attended the fundraiser and thank you to all of our volunteers that made it happen. It’s Friday! But not just a regular Friday it’s our Lost Shaker Of Salt Party and even though Jimmy Buffet is gone, we can still enjoy his music. DJ Nate Berty will be playing all of your Jimmy Buffet favorites from 5:00-8:30. All the fun starts at Hauberg Carriage Haus Bar and Hauberg Stables Gift Shop at 1:00. Not only do we have a special drink, but we have 3 special drinks, Margaritas, Rum Runners and Pina Coladas. Cheeseburger in Paradise baskets with all the fixins for $10.00 start at 5:00 and who doesn’t like Key Lime Pie for $5.00. As a polite reminder, please do not bring snacks in today as this is a fundraiser. Put on your tropical shirt and join us at Hauberg Estate!

I like mine with lettuce and tomatoes, Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes, big kosher pickle and a cold draft b**r. Good god almighty which way do I steer.

I have a request…..tomorrow is our Lost Shaker Of Salt Party and since Cheeseburgers In Paradise are on the menu, I need tomatoes and what better tomatoes than home grown. Would anyone be willing to drop some off at Hauberg? Let me know and very much appreciated!

What’s Happening At Hauberg? We’ve been doing a little sleuthing with the stenciling so Todd took off a board behind the bookcase and here it is. Why is it so important? It’s all about the colors of the stenciling and the width of the lines so we can recreate the pattern or expose it, whatever makes sense to do. We knew it was there, but to see for real is always a surreal experience. You might have noticed the scaffolding up for the last month. The birds no longer live in trim on the loggia. All repaired and painted. Now on to the back side of the carriage house to take care of where the squirrel is living and then on to the garden shed where more birds are living. Thanks Fred, Todd and Paul for doing all the work. Dave Cordes found more pictures that we’ve never seen before and we have requested higher resolution of them so stenciling can be seen even better. A big announcement coming soon on the Hauberg Children’s Art Garden. Stay Tuned.
