π Cooler temperatures don't necessarily mean your trees have all the moisture they need.
In our area, dry spells can continue well into fall, and trees may still benefit from deep watering until the ground begins to freeze.
As you prepare your landscape for winter:
π§ Continue deep watering during extended dry periods until the ground nearly freezes.
π Refresh your mulch before temperatures drop (remember to keep mulch away from the trunk)
π§ Give clay soils slow, gradual watering to help water move into the soil rather than running off.
π§ Consider where winter salt exposure can stress trees and plants near sidewalks or roads. Burlap splash screens and appropriate soil treatments can help with this!
