The office has to do more than provide a place to work.

It should make collaboration easier. Give people choices in how and where they focus. Reflect the organization behind it. And create the kinds of experiences that are difficult to replicate anywhere else.

That changes the design conversation.

Instead of asking, “How many people can we fit?” we can ask, “How can this space help our people do their best work?”

The difference is where thoughtful workplace design begins.

A new school year brings new routines, new energy and a fresh perspective on the places where students spend their days.

Good K-12 design goes well beyond the classroom. Corridors become places for connection. Libraries support new ways of learning. Cafeterias and gathering spaces build community. Building systems, accessibility and infrastructure quietly support everything happening around them.

Whether planning a targeted renovation or looking ahead to the next capital project, every improvement is an opportunity to make a school work better for the students, educators and communities it serves.

DESIGNING WITH THE SITE, NOT JUST ON IT.

At RIT’s Tait Preserve, the landscape played a defining role in the design of a new classroom building.

From the earliest site analysis through construction, our team considered how the building could take advantage of views of the lake while respecting the character of the existing property. The result: a location nestled into the hillside that gives the classroom its own connection to the landscape—without competing with the existing lodge.

Summer at Edge isn’t all drawings and deadlines.

We were proud to sponsor the 5th Annual Lighthouse Golf Tournament benefiting the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum. It was a great day to get out on the course, connect with the community, and support an organization dedicated to preserving an important piece of local history.

These projects may not always be the most visible when students return, but their impact is lasting. Thoughtful planning and strategic investment today help protect facilities, support operations and prepare schools for the years ahead.

For the Penn Yan Public Library, it started with a mood board inspired by the character of Penn Yan itself.
