Huge thank you to the senior OC Carpentry students at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School! Captain Dexter's specimen cabinet has been fully restored and returned to the library. While working on this project, the students figured out what was most likely the originally intended orientation of the cabinet, which was meant to be displayed on a wall with the middle portion creating a diamond or jewel-like figure. We can't wait to get the specimens back inside and ready for the public to view as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations!

We were proud to host 24 young women from Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School, and Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School for our Women in Construction Hard Hat Tour at Bridgewater State University’s Burnell Hall project.

Representing carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and architectural/design pathways, these students got a firsthand look at the industry through a guided site tour led by our superintendent, Jay Marshall.

We then shifted into a panel conversation, featuring incredible women across the trades and project team, including:

• Olivia Jordan (Field Engineer)
• Ashara McIsaac-Healey (Carpenter Apprentice, Charles Services)
• Catherine Pena (NASRCC North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters)
• Zherine Riley (Carpenter Apprentice, The Cheviot Corporation)
• Kate Starr (Senior Project Manager)
• Tara L. Williams (Laborer)

The energy, curiosity, and engagement throughout the morning were powerful. This is what it looks like to not only raise awareness about careers in the built environment but also create real connections and pathways for the next generation.

A huge thank you to our partners at Bridgewater State University, especially Karen Jason and Barbara Masaitis, for joining us, sharing remarks, and supporting this experience on such an incredible project.
