ASK A ROOFER 🧰 — a real question we get every week:

"What should I actually do before replacement day?"

Great question, rarely answered. Here's the honest list:

🚗 Move vehicles out of the driveway — that's where the dumpster and material delivery live
🐕 Plan for pets — a day of hammering overhead is genuinely stressful for them
🖼️ Take fragile things off walls — the vibration is real
🌿 Flag the landscaping you care about so crews can protect it
📦 Clear the attic's top layer if you store things there — dust falls during tear-off
🧲 Expect the magnet sweep — we run magnets across the lawn and driveway for nails when we're done

They test roof shingles by dropping steel balls on them. Repeatedly. Same spot. From height. Class 4 is the highest rating — the shingle takes the hit without cracking through. If you live in hail country, that one spec decides how fast your roof ages. And some insurers discount premiums for Class 4 roofs — ask yours. Before you sign with any roofer, ask: "What class are you quoting me?"

Storm damage, documented and completed.

This one came in after a major hail event. The homeowner needed two things fast: to know what actually happened up there, and a plan.

What we did: full inspection with photo documentation of every slope, a written damage summary for the file, coordination through the claim process, and the complete installation once approved.

The documentation is what made it move. Not opinion, not argument — dated photographs of measured damage, slope by slope.

That's the whole method. Show the roof, write it down, let the evidence do the work.

The referral program, and why we run it instead of buying leads.

Up to $500 when someone you refer completes a project. No selling required — you just make an introduction.

Why we'd rather pay you than a lead broker: a homeowner who comes from someone they trust already knows we're real. No cold call, no door knock, no pressure. It's a better start for everyone including them.

It's also consistent with our not cold-calling. We'd rather earn introductions than interrupt people.

If you refer someone, tell them you're compensated for it. It's the right thing to do and the FTC expects the disclosure.

Arizona roofs don't fail from storms. They fail from the sun.

Different failure mode, same outcome.

UV degradation — relentless exposure breaks down asphalt binders. Shingles get brittle and lose flexibility.

Thermal cycling — 40-degree daily swings expand and contract materials constantly, working fasteners loose and opening seams.

Monsoon season — after months of baking, sudden intense rain and wind finds everything the heat opened up.

Tile-specific — tiles last decades but the underlayment beneath them doesn't. That's the failure people miss: intact tile, dead underlayment, active leak.

If you have a tile roof in Arizona over 20 years old and it's never been looked at underneath, that's the inspection to book.

What we find under roofs that nobody expected.

At tear-off, the decking gets exposed. Frequent discoveries:

Rot around penetrations — a pipe boot cracked years ago and quietly wet the same square foot every rain

Double or triple layers — a previous roof installed over the old one, then over that, adding weight and trapping heat

Missing or wrong fasteners — staples where nails belong, or nails driven through the shingle instead of the nail line

No ice-and-water shield at the eaves in a climate that requires it

Bathroom fans venting into the attic — dumping moisture directly onto the decking

None of it is visible from outside. All of it shortens the roof's life.

This is why we photograph the bare deck and show you before covering it. You paid for the roof; you should get to see what was under the old one.

Roofing and solar in one job — why the sequence saves money.

If your roof is near end of life and you want solar, doing both together avoids a specific expensive mistake.

Separately: new panels on an aging roof. In five to eight years the roof fails, and you pay to detach the array, replace the roof, and reset the panels. That detach-and-reset is a real line item nobody mentions at signing.

Together: new roof, then panels mounted into new flashing, warranties aligned, one mobilization, one crew, one permit process.

If your roof has 15+ good years left, this doesn't apply — just do solar.

The honest first step is finding out how much life your roof actually has. Free inspection either way.

Drone inspection: you see your roof on your phone, in your driveway.

We fly the roof, capture high-resolution imagery of every slope, and show you the pictures on the spot.

Why it's better than the old way:
• Nobody walks on your shingles unnecessarily — foot traffic damages roofs
• Steep and tile roofs get inspected properly instead of estimated from the ground
• Every slope is documented, not just the accessible ones
• You see exactly what we see, at the same time
• If there's a claim, the documentation already exists

Free. No obligation. If your roof is fine, we tell you it's fine and you keep the images.

Five questions that separate a real roofing company from a temporary one.

After a big storm season, a lot of companies appear. Some are excellent. Some are gone by Christmas.

1. Where is your physical office? An address you can drive to matters when there's a warranty issue in year four.

2. Are you licensed and insured in MY state? Requirements differ by state. Ask to see the documents.

3. Can I see the documentation you'd give me? Photos of every slope, test squares, measurements.

4. Is the workmanship warranty in writing, and for how long?

5. What happens if you find rot at tear-off? There should be a defined process and a per-sheet price, not "we'll let you know."

Ask us all five. Ask everyone else the same five and compare the answers.
