Finished up this hot tub area on Friday. It's looking lovely now but this place was a sh*tshow 3 weeks ago during our little spring monsoo. As you probably see the whole back yard is a hill and it's clay and it all was draining to lowest point at the basement walk out, fortunately we were able to capture the water and dry things out.

Doesn't get much better than Sunday night dinner at the lake. Keepin it simple, we're pretty f*ckin lucky.

Finished this one up last week, this job started as a consulting job, there wasn't going to be a new retaining wall and the home owner was going to install the steps and build walls with very flat tumbled bluestone. Then it turned into, you definitely need a legit retaining wall, then they decided I should put in the steps and build the short wall. The homeowner will be building some small bluestone walls for the upper tiers. And now we're gonna do the other side of the walk out basement! Great example of the work selling itself!

This is a fun little project I'm working on. It's actually a combination of dry laid construction and mortared, the cinder block wall is part of the house. The last picture shows what the original looked like, it's actually the other side of the garage that I'll do next. Of course I never took a before pic! All of the glacial field stone came from a local excavating and grading company and I really love working with it, throughs and some of the corner pieces are made from reclaimed Medina sandstone road curbs.

Finally finished this project up last week. It took way too long, it was a logistical nightmare but I worked through it. Just waiting on the granite countertop to be installed so I throw the grill in! All of the red corner and angled stones are made from our local red Medina sandstone curbs, countless hours of splitting and chiseling! I'm quite happy my next one is just a plain old little field wall! Happy Holidays!

Well here's some pictures from our visit to the Pinhao Portuga in thel Douro Valley w**e region. These are from a few days back, I'm a bit behind schedule, if you know me well, you know posting sh*t's just not that important to me lol! Anyway, this place is incredible they make the best Port w**es in the world and also some really great reds. All of the agriculture is done on these hillside terraces built with miles of dry laid stone walls. Grape vines, olive trees, citrus fruits, dates and nuts all grown here. Incredibly beautiful, the pictures really do it no justice. The place we stayed at, Casa do Arco had 3 rooms, insane views of the valley, incredible food and 34 olive trees that were the source of the olive oil we had with our dinner! Pretty darn lucky!

Yesterday brought us to the next phase of our trip. The Douro Valley w**e region, here's some pics of our lunch on our own private patio under a lime tree and grape vines at Quinto do Tedo. The owner stumbled upon us and brought us out samples of their 10 yr port. I'm not sure how I got so lucky to get to have this experience but I'm immensely grateful!

A short time of tranquility amidst the craziness of a busy season and the life of helping to take care elderly, ailing parents. Dinner on the porch, mostly prepared by my lovely lady. Burrata cheese, prosciutto, super sweet peaches from Baumans market and fresh picked basil and airloom tomatoes from our garden. And of course perfectly cooked rare, cast iron skillet seared sirloin filets with melted herb butter and a nice Portuguese red blend on the side. Topped off with some sweet jams by Joe Russo almost Dead! Even when life is stressful it's quite grand. I'm very thankful for what I have, even when times are challenging.
