Rain couldn’t keep curiosity away. Nearly 500 kids joined us for this year’s GIRL Construction Experience to build, test, explore and discover what’s possible in construction and engineering.

Our goal is to introduce young people to careers and opportunities they may not have known existed—and to help more kids see a place for themselves in our industry.

A strong future for construction depends on reaching the next generation and welcoming people with different interests, talents, and perspectives. That’s why we do this.

Thank you to our partners, volunteers and families who made the day a success, rain and all.

From location to location, our Branch team is thinking pink and standing together in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. No matter where we are, we’re united by a shared commitment to raising awareness, supporting those affected, and honoring the fighters, survivors, and loved ones impacted by breast cancer. 🩷

For Careers in Construction month we want to talk about a job that requires out-of-the-box thinking. These people have to literally think in three dimensions.

That’s Building Information Modeling—or BIM for short.
BIM allows teams to construct a project digitally before the first shovel hits the ground. A BIM model brings every wall, steel support, pipe, electrical system and duct into one coordinated space. We use BIM to catch conflicts early, sequence construction, plan installations and communicate complex ideas clearly.

We love our BIM specialists and engineers. They think and plan in 3D, and watching them work is like seeing your favorite video game come to life. In school, they were probably the people who could organize a group project without losing their minds.

Our 5th Annual GIRL Construction Experience was a blast! Thank you to our incredible volunteers and partners who made it all possible. We couldn’t do it without you!

A special thank you to the parents for bringing their girls out and giving them the opportunity to learn, try something new, and explore the possibilities in construction.

We had an amazing day, rain and all, and can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

Respecting a community’s history can be an essential part of preparing for its future.

The Rockbridge County Courthouse in Lexington, Virginia, is a fine example. When Rockbridge County needed a modern and efficient courthouse, they turned to Branch and our trade partners.
Together, we built a courthouse that respected the county's rich history, while embracing modern life. The architects and designers took cues from generations of local architecture for the exterior look and feel. Native stone, brick, and architectural precast helped the new facility fit perfectly into the surroundings.

For the interior, modern technologies and systems helped Rockingham County prepare for the future.
The result: a modern, beautiful building that will serve Rockingham County's citizens for generations.

During Careers in Construction Month we want to talk about how our safety professionals have a superpower: They can see danger long before anyone else. They can see problems long before they become problems.

Safety professionals understand OSHA standards, inspect job sites, lead safety initiatives, investigate accidents, and prepare crews for high-risk activities.

They are knowledgeable, personable, and care deeply about the health and safety of their crews.

Their mission is clear: everyone goes home healthy and free from injury after every shift.
