Progress continues along the I-81 corridor in Weyers Cave (Augusta County) in Virginia. We’re advancing critical infrastructure improvements that will enhance safety, traffic flow, and long-term reliability along one of the East Coast’s most important freight and travel corridors.

This work will play a vital role in supporting commerce, regional connectivity, and improve the experience of the thousands of drivers who rely on the corridor every day.

Major progress is taking shape at the Popes Head Road Interchange project in Fairfax County, Virginia, as crews prepare to shift traffic onto the new aerial interchange in June 2026.

Long before modern highways connected communities across North Carolina, the Great Wagon Road carried settlers, tradesmen, and travelers through the region as one of the earliest migration routes in colonial America.

Today, travelers in Forsyth County, North Carolina, depend on the Great Wagon Road to connect them to Winston-Salem, Clemmons, Mocksville, and the Yadkin River region. Our work on this key project will improve traffic flow, enhance pedestrian safety, and strengthen access through the community. In doing so, we’re honoring the historic significance of a road that shaped the region’s development for centuries.

Some companies have "safety moments." At Branch, we have Safety Month.

Throughout May, we reinforce the importance of keeping every employee-owner safe on every project, every single day. During Safety Month, Branch leaders, project teams, and safety representatives are traveling across our operations for more than 24 events focused on hazard recognition, prevention, and accountability in the field.

This year’s national theme — Recognize, Respond, Respect — challenges all of us to recognize high-energy and high-hazard situations, respond by controlling those hazards, and respect the risks associated with the work we do every day.

Teams are also focusing on STCKY (“stuff that can kill you”), serious injury and fatality prevention (SIF), and the Energy Wheel of hazard recognition — all designed to keep attention on the hazards with the highest potential consequences.

Safety Month is about more than training. It’s about strengthening a culture where people look out for one another and making sure each employee-owner goes home safely at the end of the day.

Branch is proud to be recognized by the National Safety Council for major safety milestones across our companies during the award period:

• Our civil division: 2 million work hours from October 12, 2024, to October 21, 2025.
• Our building division: 1 million work hours from April 28, 2021, to December 31, 2025.
• Hopkins | Lacy, our mechanical, electrical, and plumbing division: 1 million work hours from February 16, 2023, to December 31, 2025.

These milestones represent extended periods of safe work across thousands of hours, projects, tasks, and daily decisions made by our employee-owners in the office and in the field. In the field and at our offices, we are on a mission to make decisions the right way. We plan, look out for one another, and refuse to cut corners.

Injuries and losses hit us hard. Which is why we strive to achieve best-in-class safety practices and operational controls.

Safety is not separate from the work. It is behind everything we do.
