✨ PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | Display Stand Refresh in Blacksburg, VA ✨
Sometimes, a fresh coat of paint can give an existing feature a whole new look!
In August, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA completed a painting project for display stands in Blacksburg, VA. The stands had wood bases with a laminate coating that had areas of chipping and deterioration.
🛠️ The Process:
Our team lightly scuffed the existing surfaces and addressed larger areas where the laminate had chipped away. Because of the condition of the existing coating, some imperfections and the possibility of future coating failure may remain visible over time.
To help ensure proper adhesion, we applied Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Bonding Primer before finishing the display stands with Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Paint in a semi-gloss finish.
⏱️ Project Timeline:
Completed in less than one day!
✨ The Final Result:
The display stands received a fresh, updated appearance with a durable semi-gloss finish. Careful surface preparation and the right products helped us tackle the challenges of painting over an existing laminate coating.

🎨 Another exterior transformation completed by CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke!
In September, our team completed a 3-week exterior painting project at a busy retail plaza in Lynchburg, VA, giving the property a fresh, updated look while working around daily customer traffic and ongoing business operations.
This project included painting the:
🏢 Exterior walls
🚪 Doors, door frames & bay doors
🔲 Fascia, gutters & downspouts
🏗️ Metal roofing & piping
🛡️ Bollards, railings & safety guard rails
📦 Metal boxes and other previously painted surfaces
The walls received Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint® Satin in Network Gray (SW 7073) and Peppercorn (SW 7674), while Pro Industrial™ Enamel Urethane in Tricorn Black (SW 6258) was used on many of the metal and trim surfaces. Rusted gutter clips were properly primed, and safety rails were finished in Safety Yellow for added visibility.
The project presented its challenges, including inclement weather and the need to keep the shopping plaza safely operational throughout the work. Our team utilized a lift to safely reach elevated areas while minimizing disruption to customers and businesses.
A big shoutout to Gabriel’s crew for their hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to getting the job done right! 👏
✨ Fresh paint. Professional results. A property ready to make a great impression.

🎉 LOCAL EXPERTISE IN THE SPOTLIGHT! 🎨
We’re excited to share that Lisa Allardi, Owner of CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA, was recently featured in an article by Hunker sharing professional tips for painting a room faster and more efficiently!
🖌️ One of Lisa’s top tips? Don’t underestimate the power of a roller extension pole!
An extension pole can help painters:
✅ Reach higher areas more easily
✅ Reduce physical strain
✅ Cover more surface area with each pass
✅ Spend less time moving ladders
✅ Get the job done more efficiently
As Lisa explained:
💬 “Using an extension pole increases the amount of reach you have. It allows you to reach higher spots that you couldn’t get to with just a roller.”
And it’s not just about speed. Having the right tools can make the entire painting process more comfortable and productive while still keeping quality as the priority.
Lisa also highlighted the importance of choosing the right roller and tray to help maximize paint coverage and reduce unnecessary trips back to the paint tray.
At CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, we’re always looking for ways to improve our tools, techniques and processes so we can provide our customers with a professional experience from start to finish. 🎨🏡

Before pink, there was peach. 🍑

In the early 1990s, Charlotte Haley handmade peach-colored ribbons to raise awareness about breast cancer and distributed them in her community. The idea later helped inspire the pink ribbon that became widely recognized as a symbol of breast cancer awareness.

🏡✨ PROJECT SPOTLIGHT! ✨🏡
A fresh coat of paint can make an entire home feel new again! 🎨
For this interior project, our team refreshed several spaces throughout the home, including the dining room, family room, kitchen, living room, main hall, office, and sitting room, along with the bathroom.
Before painting, we took care of the important prep work, including scraping loose and peeling paint, filling nail holes, replacing failing caulk, and spot priming where needed. We also addressed ceiling discoloration and worked to blend a repaired section of textured ceiling in the sitting room as seamlessly as possible.
The walls were finished with Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint in a satin finish, while the doors, door frames, windows, and window frames received Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane in semi-gloss for a durable, polished finish. ✨
Different rooms, different colors, one beautifully refreshed home! 💚💙🤍

✨ PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | Cabinet Refinishing in Moneta, VA ✨
Talk about a kitchen and bathroom refresh! 🎨✨
In August, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA completed a cabinet refinishing project in Moneta, VA, transforming the natural wood cabinetry throughout the kitchen and both bathrooms.
Our team refinished the cabinet doors, drawers, cabinet bodies, sides and attached natural wood trim. Each surface was carefully prepared by lightly scuff sanding and deglazing before being primed with BIN Shellac Primer.
The cabinets were then sprayed with Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane in a satin or semi-gloss finish. Using a spray application helped create a smooth, consistent finish across the cabinetry and trim. 🙌
🛠️ Project Challenge:
Properly deglazing the existing natural wood cabinets was an important part of the preparation process. Our team took the necessary steps to properly prepare the surfaces before priming and painting.
⏱️ Project Timeline:
Completed in just 3 days!
✨ The Final Result:
The once-natural wood cabinetry received a refreshed, finished look throughout the kitchen and both bathrooms. From the doors and drawers to the cabinet bodies and trim, every surface was carefully prepared, primed and sprayed for a smooth, consistent finish.

🍽️🎨 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | Roanoke, VA
Sometimes, it’s the details that make the biggest difference!
In June, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA completed a painting project for a local restaurant to give its exterior sign a much-needed refresh.
When we arrived, the sign had areas of rusting, chipping and peeling paint, so proper preparation was key to getting the project ready for a fresh finish.
🛠️ THE PREP
Our team:
• Hand washed the surfaces to remove dirt and debris
• Scraped away loose and peeling paint
• Wire brushed rusted metal areas
• Spot-primed bare and rusted areas with Sherwin-Williams Pro-Cryl Primer
• Allowed the primer to cure overnight before applying the finish coat
The prepared surfaces were then coated with Sherwin-Williams Waterbased Urethane Alkyd Semi-Gloss Black for a clean, uniform finish.
⏱️ PROJECT TIMELINE
This project was completed in just 2 days — one day for preparation and priming, followed by the finish coat the next day.
✨ THE FINAL RESULT
The restaurant sign received a fresh, uniform black finish, transforming its appearance and giving the exterior a clean, refreshed look.
This project is a great example of why proper surface preparation matters. When dealing with rust, peeling paint and aging metal, taking the time to properly clean, scrape, wire brush and prime the surface helps create the foundation for a quality finish.
