People ask me sometimes what it feels like being a woman in construction — an industry that is still very much dominated by men.
And the truth is… it depends on the day. 😅
Outside the field, I’m very feminine. I love getting dressed up, heels, pretty things, soft energy… give me all of it. 👑
But the second I step onto a project, there are days when the “big-girl pants” have to go on.
Get my hands and pants dirty
Have to make decisions.
Ask uncomfortable questions.
Hold people accountable.
Solve problems quickly.
Speak up when something isn’t right.
And yes… sometimes manage a whole bunch of dudes with very strong opinions. 😂
But one thing I’ve learned is that being respected in this industry doesn’t require me to become less feminine.
I don’t have to act like one of the guys to belong here.
I can be soft and still be firm.
Feminine and still be knowledgeable.
Polished and still get my hands dirty.
A woman and still lead the room.
That combination has actually become one of my favorite parts of who I am.
Princess energy at home. 👑
Project Manager energy when it’s time to get things done. 👷🏻♀️💪🏻
