President, Scott Rice, and the City of Fresno team had the incredible opportunity of walking Dolores Huerta herself through the layout of the park designed with the local community in her honor, at this morning’s groundbreaking ceremony in Fresno.

Dolores Huerta Park, a 4.5 acre neighborhood park in the west end of Fresno, will open Summer 2026. This $10M park was funded by the maximum $8.5M award from the Proposition 68 Statewide Park Program, supplemented by local funds.

HONORING OUR HEROES: The Community Works Design Group team celebrates this morning’s unveiling of the new Veterans Memorial Wall. CWDG worked diligently with Colby Diuguid Jarpd GM and the Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District Board to repurpose the District’s granite dedication plaques from an underwhelming wall in a tucked-away location in Veterans Memorial Park. The plaques have been remounted into a new monument wall in a prominent location at the front of the park, to properly honor those who gave all for the freedom enjoyed by their neighbors.

Also, a special thanks to QCP for their craftsmanship in the wall and for meeting a tight deadline so that today’s ceremony could be possible!

Team is proud to have designed this awesome park with the direct input of the residents and staff of the City of Perris - Government 🙌

"Local residents felt neglected and forgotten because funding had not been invested in their neighborhood for accessible recreational amenities and green spaces," resident surveys indicated.

The city of Perris, California, recognized the urgent need for this community to have equitable access to green spaces and recreational amenities and directed staff to focus on this area and secure the necessary funds to make this dream a reality.
