🌊 California's Water Story Is Changing
As of July 12, California's statewide reservoir storage had fallen to approximately 13.6 million acre-feet, just 68% of the historical average for this time of year.
An unusually warm spring caused the Sierra snowpack to disappear weeks earlier than normal, reducing the runoff that usually replenishes our reservoirs.
At the same time, California's coastal waters experienced their warmest June in 177 years, while forecasters continue monitoring the development of a strong El Niño.
These aren't reasons to panic.
They're reminders that every drop of water matters.
