Here was another kitchen space sorely in need of updating. We removed the wall from the first pic to open up the space then demolished out all their 1960 inspired cabinets to reveal all sorts of hidden problems, corrected all that then, BAM 💥! Out with the old in with the new and you have a beautiful open concept kitchen great for entertaining, cooking and relaxing. Thanks to Adam Viel at Top Notch building supply in Pecatonica for the design and supply, and the homeowners, the Pickett’s for being gracious hosts during the project.

A few months ago this client called me up from the referral of another client telling me they were having problems with their deck boards rotting out every year. I met with them and investigated the problem only to discover they were relying on inferior wood from a unnamed Midwest building supply chain that everyone knows of. Anyway long story short they decided to recover the entire deck with Trex decking and handrail components. Also since they love to entertain guests on their unusually large deck space wanted a roof over a portion of it. So after some designing and configuring here’s what we all collaborated together and came up with.

This one took a minute to finish due to all the delays in materials, but it turned out great, and the snowbird homeowners are extra pleased (even though the can’t enjoy it til next season). Two levels of Trex composite decking with a dried in screen room below, due to the Trex rain escape drainage system installed, makes this deck on Lake Summerset one to be envied by all.
