Built to connect the community with the water.

The Rowing & Sailing Center of Hilton Head Island provides access to Skull Creek for rowing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and other non-motorized recreation.

The project includes a fixed fishing pier, floating dock, picnic pavilion, restrooms, playground, fire pit, parking, and storage for rowing shells and sailboats.

It’s a strong example of what happens when marine infrastructure and public recreation come together in one thoughtfully executed Lowcountry project.

Another project we’re proud to have built for the community.

isn't a finishing touch. It's the first decision we make on every project.

Every board, every fixture, every material on a Nix build is chosen to hold up in sun, salt air, and storms, not just to look good on installation day. That's what 25+ years in this business teaches you.

What's one detail you always notice on a well-built structure?

Amenities should do more than look good. They should work hard for the people who use them.

At Hampton Hall in Bluffton, Nix Construction completed a two-acre amenity expansion that added four pickleball courts, four clay bocce courts, four shade structures, a covered wood pavilion, and new landscaping.

Projects like this require careful coordination between sitework, structures, finishes, recreation features, and landscaping to create a finished environment that feels cohesive from day one.

Take a look at the completed Hampton Hall Amenity Center.

Large projects rarely come with simple logistics.

Multiple trades. Tight schedules. Long-lead materials. Changing site conditions. Owner coordination. Design questions. Inspections. Procurement.

The general contractor’s job is to keep those moving parts moving together.

That takes experienced field leadership, clear communication, strong trade relationships, and the ability to make decisions before small issues become schedule problems.

Complexity is part of construction. Managing it well is what keeps a project moving.

Public spaces become part of a community’s everyday life.

Southside Park in Beaufort includes playgrounds, open lawn areas, walking trails, parking, landscaping, and a 1,500-square-foot open-air pavilion with restrooms.

Building a park means bringing together many different pieces of infrastructure into one durable, accessible, and welcoming environment.

That’s the kind of work Nix Construction is proud to deliver throughout the Lowcountry.

A building only proves its quality years after the ribbon gets cut.

Anyone can make a structure look good in the first six months. The real test comes after, through hurricane seasons, humid summers, thousands of visitors moving through a park pavilion, families using a clubhouse every weekend. That's when weak materials and shortcuts show themselves.

We've been building for the since 1995, from public parks and rec centers to marine and foundation work, and we design every project around what it takes to hold up here, not just what looks right on paper.

construction isn't the flashiest part of the process. It's the part you appreciate ten years in, when everything still works exactly the way it should.

What's the oldest building you've been in that still feels solid today?

Strong communities take planning, coordination, and infrastructure that can serve people for years to come.

Across the Lowcountry, parks, recreation facilities, waterfront access, public spaces, and community amenities all begin with a clear plan and a team capable of carrying it through construction.

During National Community Planning Month, we recognize the municipalities, planners, architects, engineers, and community leaders helping shape the places where the Lowcountry lives, works, and grows.

We’re proud to help turn those plans into places people can use every day.

carries a different level of responsibility.

must serve the community, meet demanding standards, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and perform reliably long after construction is complete.

That responsibility is why municipalities throughout the continue to trust with parks, recreation facilities, public buildings, waterfront infrastructure, and other community investments.

We understand that when we build a public project, the owner isn't the only stakeholder.

The community is, too.

That’s why we build for durability, accountability, and public trust.

Built for the coast. Built for the community.

recently completed the Private Dock on , extending from the private community directly to the Atlantic oceanfront.

Marine construction in the comes with its own set of demands, from coastal conditions and material durability to access, logistics, and long-term performance. It’s work that rewards experience.

That’s where Nix knows the Lowcountry.
