I had such a great time at Rock Run Creek Farm learning about growing Shiitake mushrooms naturally in a forest setting. Thanks you Francis Ngoh for showing us how you grow your mushrooms. Next episode airs Tuesday September 29 at 8. 🍄

The Garlic Chives has really been a buzz of action in my garden. Who knew a herb not only can be a beautiful garden plant but also a great pollinator attractor. The foliage can be cut and used in many dishes, adding a light onion garlicky flavor and good to bright up salads. In the growing season this plant boost light green foliage and isn’t much to talk about, but come mid to late August into September it produces beautiful white flowers with tinges of pink. And the pollinators love it. Now I must say if you let it go to seed you will have hundreds the following season in my experience. So I try to remember to cut the stems after flowering to help with that problem. (Not that it always happens😹). And if you dry them they make nice additions to flower arrangements or wreaths for winter holiday decorating. So if you like a plant that is edible and makes a good pollinator plant give it a try, just be careful for its seed production.

Widow boxes really took off despite my neglect of watering. I know I really should remove the Virginia Creeper off the siding, but I kinda like it😊. Maybe I’ll wait till after its beautiful fall color. What you think? Is it too much?
