Some pool projects are about creating a backyard centerpiece.
This one was about building something that belonged in the landscape.
We started with a 20' × 44' Royal Palm Pools True-L, roughly 968 sq. ft. of pool area with a 144-foot perimeter. The layout gave this family a lot to work with - plenty of open swimming space, a dedicated deeper end, room for the diving board and basketball goal, and that L-shaped section that gives the pool a much more custom feel than a standard rectangle.
But what really makes this project special is everything around it.
The house already sits against a beautiful stretch of rolling Kentucky countryside. Instead of competing with that view, the finished pool almost frames it. From the water, your eye carries straight past the pool deck into open fields, mature trees and the hills beyond.
That’s the part I like most about seeing a project finished.
It’s not just, “We put a pool here.”
It’s seeing how the pool changes the way the entire property feels.
A backyard that used to look out over the countryside now has a place to swim, play basketball, dive in, entertain, or simply sit by the water and take in the view.
And from the drone, you can really see how naturally the True-L fits beside the home without overwhelming the property.
This is what we mean when we talk about building the pool around the property-not simply putting a pool in the yard.
If you have a property with a view, acreage, or a backyard you think has more potential, we'd love to help you figure out what could work there.
