We made a visit to Henrico County’s east end this week to check in on progress at Glenwood Farms, a multi-phase redevelopment project, of which KBS is serving as the general contractor for 150 senior- and 240- family apartment homes. The project includes a full suite of amenities and some income-based homes.

Crews are busy framing the remaining buildings, installing windows, doors, roofs and siding on previously framed buildings, and installing sidewalks, curb and gutter along the perimeter of this phase of the redevelopment.

Class is back in session at the KBS Institute! 📚

This week, we invited Andrew Franklin of BEaR Engineers to KBS HQ for an instructional session on various types of architectural field testing and why they are required. Andrew is a phenomenal resource and has served as a third-party inspector on several of our jobs. He reviewed the processes and procedures of these field tests and also brought in some of the equipment BEaR uses to conduct them.

Thank you to Andrew and BEaR Engineers for their expertise and taking time out of their day to help our team learn more about the tools that will help us be successful on the jobsite.

It’s a beautiful day to erect some precast concrete panels! 🏗️

We stopped by Dōma today, the first mixed-use, multi-family building in the Diamond District , where crews are hard at work installing the building’s 453-space parking garage.

Fire Prevention Week 2026: Fire Safety Is Everyone’s Responsibility

Fires can start in seconds—especially on construction jobsites where hot work, electrical equipment, generators, flammable materials, fuel, and other everyday activities can create serious fire hazards.

A few minutes of prevention can help prevent a major incident. Take the time to:

🧯 Keep fire extinguishers accessible and properly maintained.
🔥 Keep combustible materials away from ignition sources.
📋 Follow all Hot Work Permit requirements.
🧹 Maintain good housekeeping and remove combustible debris.
⚡ Inspect electrical cords, tools, and equipment before use.
⛽ Store fuel, propane, and other flammable materials properly.
🚪 Keep exits, access routes, and fire equipment clear.
⚠️ Report fire hazards immediately and correct them when possible.

At KBS, our goal is simple: prevent fires before they happen.

Stay alert. Stay safe. And remember—fire safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Welcome to KBS Oktoberfest 2026! 🥨🍻

We hosted a seasonal celebration for our employees yesterday with our very own Oktoberfest. Our team gathered at HQ to enjoy some brats, brews, a couple of games (ice those shoulders folks!), and build camaraderie. Special thank you to everyone who lent a hand in organizing a successful event, and to our team members for swinging by HQ to have some fun.

If you look closely, you will see...windows! 🪟

We have made strides at 301 West 6th Street in Manchester. Crews are busy erecting precast, concrete panels on the building's 13th floor, installing interior wall framing, sub-flooring and mechanical systems, and installing windows on lower levels. 🏢

We'll take advantage of the great weather while it's here! Thank you to our ownership and design team for partnering with us on such an iconic project.
