We created this company because we feel as though one major component in this industry is lacking and that is genuine client relations. Ever wonder how much conditioned air your ductwork is actually losing? 👀

Derek spent part of the day performing a duct leakage test and yes, this is what testing HVAC systems beyond the equipment looks like!

We temporarily seal off the supply and return vents throughout the home, then use specialized equipment to pressurize the duct system to 25 Pascals. This allows us to measure exactly how much air is escaping through gaps, poorly sealed connections, damaged ductwork, and other leakage points.

Why does it matter? Because your HVAC equipment can be working perfectly, but if the duct system is leaking, the air you paid to heat and cool may never make it where it’s supposed to go.

Meet Vlad, our Install Lead! 🔧

Vlad is incredibly passionate about his work, and it shows in every installation he touches. He and Derek have become quite the team when it comes to designing duct systems. They’ll put their heads together, work through the details, and figure out the best solution for each individual home.

For them, ductwork isn’t just about getting air from point A to point B. It’s about airflow, comfort, efficiency, craftsmanship, and building a system that actually performs the way it should.

And if you’ve ever seen these two get excited over a beautifully designed duct system… you know. 😂

These before-and-after photos are exactly why a mini-split needs more than just a quick filter cleaning. 👀

MINI-SPLIT DEEP CLEANING 🧼❄️

Mini-split systems move a tremendous amount of air through a relatively small indoor unit. Over time, dust, dirt, moisture, and organic buildup can accumulate deep inside components that you simply cannot reach by wiping down the outside or washing the filters.

During this in-depth cleaning, we disassembled the indoor unit to access and thoroughly clean areas including the blower wheel, drain pan, louvers, internal housing, screens, and other accessible components.

Just look at the difference in these photos. ➡️

The blower wheel in particular is extremely important. When buildup collects between those small blades, it can restrict airflow and affect how effectively the system moves conditioned air into the room. The drain pan and other damp areas of the unit can also collect debris and organic buildup over time.

A proper mini-split cleaning can help:
• Restore proper airflow
• Improve heating and cooling performance
• Remove accumulated dirt and debris
• Reduce musty or unpleasant odors coming from the unit
• Keep the condensate drainage system cleaner
• Reduce unnecessary strain on the equipment
• Keep the system operating the way it was designed to
Changing or cleaning your filters is important, but it does not clean what is happening deeper inside your mini-split.

If you have a ductless system that has developed a musty smell, isn't moving as much air as it used to, has visible buildup, or simply hasn't had a thorough cleaning in a while, it may be time to have it professionally serviced.

We’re investing in more than HVAC, we’re investing in our team. 💙💛

Derek, Laura, and Lenora are spending the week at the NCI High-Performance HVAC Summit, learning, networking, and bringing new ideas back home to DNA Heating & Cooling.

For us, continuing education isn’t just about collecting certifications. It’s about becoming better at what we doz Better testing, better diagnostics, better installations, and ultimately better results for the families who trust us with their homes.

We’re especially proud to have Lenora here with us. As an apprentice, getting the opportunity to learn alongside some of the best minds in the industry is an investment in her future and in the future of DNA.

And none of this would be possible without our clients. Every service call, maintenance visit, installation, referral, and review helps a small family-owned company like ours continue to grow, educate our team, and raise the standard of HVAC service in Richmond.
