What a difference is all we can say after this upgrade! Not every install takes place in a big open basement or attic. Sometimes it’s in a cramped utility closet or hidden above a drop ceiling. The two biggest concerns when space is limited are:
1. Will modern equipment fit in this space without resorting to niche products that may not be in business in a few years?
2. Will it be able to be serviced in the future without additional headache or cost?

It takes planning and some sweat equity but is entirely worth it to have a properly functioning and reliable HVAC system no matter where it is located.

We’re busy upgrading a system with a heater from 1981, it took a while to decode the serial number.
It’s wild that this heater was installed at the beginning of the space shuttle program, the Royal Wedding, the first airing of MTV, and outlasted all of them.

We're modernizing a historic Steyer farmhouse by installing a ducted Fujitsu inverter system to heat and cool the bedrooms below. Due to the home's low R-value, we chose a high SEER variable speed unit. Blocking off the original fireplaces in each room prevents air intrusion and heat gain/loss issues, allowing us to bring modern comfort to this old home while preserving its integrity and charm.

It’s been unseasonably cool lately which has delayed AC season a bit. We’ve kept busy though with water heaters and planned replacement projects.

We offer water heaters of all types from Bradford White, Navien, and Velocity.

We strongly suggest planned proactive replacement due to our local water quality and the headache of property damage. If homeowners ever experience this, they usually hire the first person available so they can get hot water restored. These type contractors are generally higher in price and lower in quality of installation. Best practice is to replace an aging water heater along with close piping, valves, flue piping, and safety pan. Big box store brands are the poorest quality water heaters available, so never judge the cost of a replacement from online pricing.

The Bosch IDS Ultra is a high-efficiency air-to-air heat pump designed for extreme cold, delivering 100% heating capacity at 5*F and operating down to -13*F. The IDS Ultra uses Enhanced V***r Injection (EVI) technology to maintain performance in freezing temperatures and meets DOE cold-climate requirements.

What this means to the customer is a full 5 tons worth of warmth in low temperatures without the need for constant supplemental Aux Heat, whether generated by electric or fossil fuel.

We’re still working the bugs out on this one, and will be for some time. They are new to US markets but have been used widely in Canada & the UK. If you’re going to invest in premium equipment, do so with an installing contractor who shares your goals and is committed to staying involved years after the day of installation.

The newest series of Bosch 19 SEER Heat Pumps offer communicating inverter driven variable speed models that provide the best dehumidification in summer and heat output in winter.

These heat pumps are extremely quiet, automatically adjust compressor output to satisfy demand, and generate heat with very little auxiliary heat assistance. They are serious competitors in price and performance to the top tier Carrier Infinity and Trane XV20i series.

As an installing dealer, we can access the system remotely through the WiFi gateway to check overall performance and if any error codes are present, which is quite impressive.

We are looking forward to spring and summer now that we’ve wrapped up what we think is the last Velocity Boiler of the season. It was nice to perform this upgrade in mild temperatures for a change.

The last boiler was from 20+ years ago, so we repiped in larger cast iron and installed quite a few accessories to modernize and make servicing in the future much easier.

All digital controls with multiple economy settings, ECM circulator pumps with variable speed, a Tiger Loop with fuel shut offs and a spin on filter, easy access air purge loops, and a simple to adjust mixing valve for domestic hot water temperature adjustments. The Bradford White LP water heater will automatically take over hot water needs when boiler heat is no longer needed.

The new Velocity boiler is much quieter and more consistent. While traditional oil boilers will never produce more than 84% efficiency, the digital controller and pumping system makes better use of generated hot water to save fuel on every cycle.
