This empty field in Sherman is much more than it appears. It’s the next chapter in a story that began here nearly 40 years ago.

RGB Cataract & LASIK () was founded in Sherman in 1987 and has since grown to serve patients throughout North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. Now, that growth is continuing with the future Red River ASC, which expands their footprint in the Sherman community.

We recently joined the RGB team and project partners to break ground on RGB’s new state-of-the-art, 8,500 SF ambulatory surgery center. The facility will house three operating rooms, pre-op and PACU bays, and patient and staff spaces designed to support safe, comfortable, efficient care.

During the ceremony, Dr. Bill Plauche thanked the RGB staff for the care they provide their patients and shared his enthusiasm for what the new facility will make possible.

Today, it’s just a rendering in a field…but not for long. We’re building what comes next: a place where RGB’s team can continue caring for the Texoma community for years to come.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month.

Construction has one of the highest su***de rates of any industry, and OSHA is encouraging employers to bring this difficult but critical conversation to their teams.

Ryan Pence, Jonathan Collins, Thomas Hardy, and Alex Chow recently joined trade partners and industry peers at the American Subcontractors Association - North Texas Chapter’s Clay Shoot at Alpine Shooting Range.

Events like this offer an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships, make new ones, and enjoy a little friendly competition along the way. It was great to spend a day with others in our industry.

When recognition comes from your peers, it carries a different weight. It means your everyday attention to detail, integrity under pressure, consistency, kindness, or curiosity has been seen and valued.

At our quarterly staff meeting, we highlight a few of these stories to celebrate the example those individuals set. We are just as grateful for everyone who takes the time to shine a light on a coworker. Together, these team members reinforce what matters and help shape who we are.

Mental health is not separate from how we lead, how we build teams, or how we run our businesses. It is part of all three.

On November 17, construction leaders, educators, and industry professionals will gather at Baylor University for Beyond the Hard Hat: Mental Resilience + Leadership in Construction, a full-day conversation focused on practical solutions to the mental health challenges affecting our workforce, our jobsites, and our industry.

Keyan Zandy and Shelby McEntire will be part of that conversation, presenting “A Better Way to Build People: Mental Health, Leadership & Retention.” Their session will explore how Lean leadership, people-first practices, and intentional employee support can help reduce burnout, strengthen trust, improve retention, and create workplaces where people want to stay and grow.

These are important conversations, and they are stronger when more of our industry is willing to have them openly. We look forward to learning alongside others, sharing what we have learned, and contributing to a healthier construction culture.

Meet the Project Team delivering two major renovation programs for Baylor Scott & White Health in Plano.

Across Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital and Baylor Scott & White Regional Medical Center, one coordinated team is completing six renovation scopes totaling more than 50,000 SF within active patient-care environments.

At The Heart Hospital, the 13,524 SF program includes:
▪ A five-phase renovation of the 10,454 SF ED, including patient exam rooms, nurse stations, restrooms, and redesigned reception area.

▪ Renovation of a 1,800 SF second-floor physician’s lounge, including a Surgeon War Room and improvements to staff dining and lounge spaces.

▪ Renovation of a 1,270 SF Cath Lab 4 suite, including a Philips cath lab system, Stryker equipment, control room, and workstation.

At the Regional Medical Center, the 37,000 SF program includes:
▪ Phased renovation of 10 operating rooms across 17,000 SF, with interior finishes and Stryker equipment supporting greater connectivity, safety, and patient care.

▪ A two-phase renovation and expansion of an 8,500 SF interventional radiology department, including Siemens and Stryker equipment.

▪ Renovation and expansion of an 11,500 SF ED to increase capacity and support the hospital’s evolving needs.

What makes this work complex?
▪ Each scope is completed within an active healthcare facility where patient access, clinical operations, safety, and continuity of care must remain a priority.

▪ At The Heart Hospital, the ED will move through five phases, requiring hospital staff to continually adapt as work areas and circulation routes change. At the Medical Center, the OR renovations are being delivered in eight phases, requiring the team to remain flexible while protecting ongoing surgical operations.

▪ Shutdowns, equipment installations, infection-control requirements, Interim Life Safety pathways, and facility impacts must be carefully planned.

▪ Weekly, in-person coordination with BSW and CBRE facilities team allows the group to review shutdowns and operational impacts across active work.
