Where is the first place you should look for a leak? The equipment! It's a no brainer. It's above ground, it doesn't take any specialized equipment. And, although it isn't the most frequent leak we see, equipment leaks happen all of the time! Save yourself some time and money and go check your equipment first.

The pool bucket test is the single best tool a homeowner can use to determine if they have a leak or not. It’s easy, it doesn’t take long to determine if you have a leak, and it’s basically free!

If you have a skimmer that keeps leaking nonstop even after you put epoxy in it, or every season you’re adding new epoxy to the skimmer, then it’s time for a better solution. We always recommend, if this happens to you, that you inject your skimmer with an expandable foam. This is a much longer lasting solution, and as much cheaper than a full skimmer replacement, and less annoying than having to keep losing water and putting more epoxy on.

The first thing we ask customers to do when their pool only leaks when it’s running is to check the backwash. There are different backwashes but if you can find where the water comes out, check to see if water is leaking out of it. This alone could save you hundreds of dollars instead of having a pool leak detection specialist come out and find it in 5 seconds.

We get asked all the time if our customers should replace the liner in their pool. I think there are really three reasons to replace the liner, if it’s falling into the pool constantly, it the seams keep ripping and gashes keep appearing, or if you just want a beautiful new one.

We get asked all of the time about Bubbles in the pool jets. This can often mean that there is a break in your pipes, however, it can just as easily be a small fixable leak at your equipment, or something is simple as needing to fill your pool up with a little more water.
