Good morning from Erie, Pennsylvania. This came across my "LinkedIn" feed on Friday night. Here is the comment that I left underneath it:

"For the first time ever, this is quite an accurate list. Perhaps a bit on the high side, depending on your market and whether you're in a union. In Erie, PA a top tool and die guy is at roughly $36 per hour. That's about $75K a year, But let's be honest about a few things: it takes about 7-10 years in the trade to reach those levels IF you're really good. Secondly, the real money in the trades is in overtime. An extra 10 hours a week turns that job into six figures. Finally, Mike Rowe is spitting numbers out there about welders making $140,000 a year and the press just laps it up. Because the "press" doesn't understand how things really work. Welders in Erie are NOT making $140K a year. The reality is that a six-figure income is obtainable by establishing yourself as a qualified journeyman after several years in the trade. And you will not make that on a 40-hour-per-week salary."
