A good day in New Orleans and an even better reminder of the talent coming up in Louisiana.

We had a great time at LSU New Orleans meeting students, talking careers, and introducing more people to the dredging industry and the work behind it.

Career fairs give us the opportunity to do more than talk about open positions. They give us a chance to show students how their skills can translate into an industry they may not have considered before.

It’s ROCKtober, and we’re starting close to home.

Louisiana and Mississippi both play a role in the larger aggregates industry, and they’re also home to DSC’s manufacturing operations.

The numbers in these state snapshots show just part of the industry’s reach. We build here, but the dredges built across our facilities go to work in aggregate operations far beyond our home states.

That makes ROCKtober a good reminder of both where we come from and the larger industry we’re proud to serve.

A typical day in the yard looks a little like this.

In one view, there’s a component on the move, equipment staged for the next task, and a dredge in the background being prepared for shipment.

There’s a lot that happens between fabrication and delivery, and with multiple builds moving through different stages at the same time, keeping everything progressing takes planning, timing, and coordination across the yard.

Tomorrow, DSC will be at Northshore Technical Community College’s Manufacturing Day & Career Fair meeting students interested in building, fabricating, wiring, assembling, and bringing large-scale equipment to life.

Dredging is a specialized industry, which means the work isn’t always what people picture when they hear “manufacturing.” At DSC, our teams build custom equipment designed for real operations and real jobs in the field.
