Flashback Friday ⏪

This aerial photo takes us back nearly 20 years to 2007, during the construction of our headquarters in Reedsville.

Looking at the site then compared to today really puts into perspective how much has changed over the last two decades. As we celebrate 40 years of Metzler Forest Products, it’s a great reminder of the growth that has taken place and all the people and hard work that have been part of it along the way.

It’s Team Member Tuesday

This week, we are highlighting Jamie!

Jamie has been around Metzler long enough to have seen plenty of changes, growth, and different chapters of the company. Through all of it, he has remained a steady presence and someone who has become an important part of the Metzler team.

Jamie’s manager, Wade, shared some insight into what has made Jamie such a valuable part of MFP:

“Jamie has been a dedicated member of Metzler Forest Products for nearly 20 years. He recently transitioned into the Land Clearing division, where his skills and experience have continued to stand out.

Jamie is an exceptional operator. Whether he is running a dozer or an excavator, he consistently completes jobs efficiently and correctly the first time. He has a strong ability to anticipate each phase of a project, understanding what needs to be done and when, which keeps operations running smoothly.

His knowledge, experience, and work ethic make him a valuable asset to any division within Metzler Forest Products. We are proud to have Jamie as part of both the Land Clearing team and the company as a whole.”

For Jamie, one of the things he enjoys most about his job is that no two days are necessarily the same. One day he may be laying out a project at the shop, while the next he could be helping the clearing crew or assisting the chip crew with a landing. He enjoys the opportunity to run different equipment and take on a variety of work.

Outside of work, Jamie stays busy with projects around the house and helping his son and daughter with projects of their own. He also enjoys going on adventures with his wife and spending time antiquing.

It’s Team Member Tuesday!

We’re wrapping up our North Chip Plant series by recognizing Mike. From the start of the day until the final work is finished, the plant depends on each person doing their part to keep things moving. Mike’s consistency and strong work ethic have made him an important part of that daily operation and the team in Kane.

When reflecting on Mike’s work and the impact he has on the crew, his manager, Wade, shared:

“Mike is our loader operator at our North Chip Plant. He’s tasked with loading all the chips and bark, as well as maintaining the roads around the plant. Mike loads somewhere between 20 and as many as 45 loads of material per day, and he does this in a safe manner. Mike has a very positive attitude and is a good team and crew member. He always helps out when needed with maintenance in the yard. We are glad to have Mike as a part of our MFP team.”

Mike’s favorite part of his job is loading trucks and building piles of wood chips. After work, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing football with his boys.

It’s Team Member Tuesday!

This week, we’re continuing our recognition of the team at our North Chip Plant in Kane, PA, by highlighting Troy. Troy’s role at the crane puts him in regular contact with the haulers bringing material into the plant. He stays aware of what is happening around him and brings a steady, approachable presence to the Kane team.

When asked about Troy, his manager, Wade, shared:

“Troy has been an added resource at the north chip plant for the last three years. He has grown into a safe and efficient Crane Operator. He's always a pleasure to work with his positive attitude. He cares about the suppliers and their equipment; he is careful not to damage it. Glad to have Troy as a part of our MFP team and the North Chip plant crew.”

Troy’s favorite part of his job is getting to see all the wildlife around the crane. After a long week, he enjoys relaxing by a campfire with friends and family.

A lot is taking shape across the Reedsville yard. With construction on the new buildings nearing completion, the additional space will help improve organization, streamline workflow, and give our crews more room to keep equipment and materials moving efficiently.

It’s Team Member Tuesday!

This week, we’re recognizing Dave from our North Chip Plant in Kane, PA. Dave brings a strong understanding of the plant and the work required to keep it operating from one day to the next. He stays aware of what is happening across the site, works well with those around him, and brings a steady presence to the Kane team.

When asked about Dave’s contributions to the team, his manager, Wade, shared:

“When I think about someone who truly represents what MFP stands for, Dave is one of the first people who comes to mind. He lives our core values every day through his attitude, work ethic, and commitment to doing things the right way. Dave comes to work with a positive, professional, and forward-thinking mindset that has a real impact on the people around him. He takes pride in the North Chip plant, keeping it clean, organized, and well maintained, and he does an outstanding job leading his crew every day. His team is productive because he leads by example and sets high standards for safety, accountability, and quality.

One of the things I appreciate most about Dave is that I never have to wonder if something will get done. I know I can trust him to handle it safely, efficiently, and with the right attitude. That kind of dependability is hard to find, and it doesn't go unnoticed.

If I could hire more people like Dave, I would do it in a heartbeat. He is a tremendous asset to our team, and I am genuinely grateful to have him as part of the MFP family.
