We took this space from dark and dated to bright, warm and timeless with new cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, appliances, lighting and those finishing details that pull everything together.

And can we talk about that statement range hood? 😍

Sometimes the best remodel isn’t about adding more space — it’s about making the space you already have feel completely new.

Another day, another trench on this ADU project. ⚡🚧

One part of building an ADU homeowners may not think about: Can the existing property actually supply enough power for another home?

In this case, the answer was no.

The existing electrical supply wasn’t sufficient for the additional unit, so the city installed a new transformer and we’re running the underground electrical line to the ADU. Next, Southern California Edison will come in to make the connection and bring power to the unit.

It’s a good example of how much happens **behind the scenes—and underground—**before an ADU is ready to become a home. 🏡

Some remodels completely change the feel of a home—and this is definitely one of them.

We replaced the dated wood paneling with clean, bright beadboard wainscoting, instantly giving this room a lighter, more timeless look while keeping plenty of character.

It’s amazing how one design change can make a space feel bigger, brighter, and decades newer.

Here’s the process:

🔹 1. Hang the drywall – Large sheets are measured, cut, and fastened to the framing.

🔹 2. Tape the seams – Joint tape is applied to reinforce every joint and help prevent future cracking.

🔹 3. Apply joint compound (mud) – Multiple coats are spread over seams, corners, and screw heads to create a seamless surface.

🔹 4. Sand between coats – Each layer is sanded smooth before the next coat is applied. This is where patience pays off.

🔹 5. Texture – Once everything is smooth, the desired wall texture is applied to create the finished look and help hide minor imperfections.

✨ Every step builds on the last, and skipping or rushing one can affect the final result for years to come.

Quality isn’t just in the finished product—it’s in every step along the way.

What an incredible day at Redlands Touch-a-Truck!

For our first year attending, we didn’t know what to expect — but seeing so many smiling faces, future builders, and local families made it unforgettable.

Tile roof vs. shingles — what’s the difference? 👷‍♂️🏠

We get this question a lot, especially here in Southern California.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

Tile Roofing

✔️ Longer lifespan (often 50+ years)
✔️ More durable in heat and weather
✔️ Higher-end look and curb appeal
✔️ Lower maintenance over time

Things to consider:
➖ Higher upfront investment
➖ Heavier material (roof structure matters)

Shingle Roofing

A lot of people see roofing going on… but don’t realize how much planning and coordination happens behind the scenes to keep a job running smoothly. 👷‍♂️

For this ADU, the crew used a roof tile drop system to strategically move materials onto the roof safely and efficiently rather than relying only on manual carrying.

Why it matters:
✔️ Keeps the workflow moving efficiently
✔️ Improves safety on site
✔️ Reduces unnecessary strain on the crew
✔️ Helps the project stay organized and on schedule
