Anyone can buy a chainsaw. Not everyone can safely bring down a sixty-foot tree leaning toward a house, or navigate a bucket truck around power lines in a tight backyard.

Arbor Max operates as a serious, equipment-driven business: bucket trucks, crane capability for large or difficult removals, and crews trained specifically for the risks that come with working at height around structures and utility lines.

That distinction matters most on the jobs that go wrong for less-equipped operators, storm-damaged trees under tension, oversized removals near rooflines, or work that requires precise control rather than brute force.

Fully insured and covering Berks, Chester, Montgomery, and Lehigh Counties, Arbor Max is built to take on the jobs that call for more than a truck and a saw.

Late summer storms in Berks County do not give much warning. One strong line of thunderstorms and you can have a split trunk or a limb down across the driveway by the time it passes.

That is exactly why we keep an emergency line separate from our regular scheduling. Storm damage does not wait for business hours, and neither do we.

The first few hours after a storm matter most. A tree that looks stable can still shift or fail further, so every emergency call starts with a safety assessment before anything comes down.

Has a storm ever left a tree or limb down on your property? How long did it take before someone was able to come look at it?

Some trees just cannot come down with a chainsaw and a truck. A leaning giant over a roofline, a dead tree wedged between two houses, that's a different kind of job.

That's when we bring in the crane. Instead of dropping large sections, we lift and lower them with control, which matters a lot on the tight residential lots we see all over Berks, Chester, Montgomery, and Lehigh Counties.

It's not a job every tree company can take on, and it's one of the reasons we invest in the equipment and training to handle the trees other companies turn away from.

Do you have a tree on your property that's always made you nervous, one that's just too big or too close to something for a standard removal? What's held you back from having someone look at it?

When you hire a tree service in Berks, Chester, Montgomery, or Lehigh County, you're not just hiring for the work itself. You're taking on a share of the liability for anything that goes wrong on your property during that job.

An uninsured or underinsured contractor means that if equipment causes property damage or a crew member is injured, those costs land on your homeowner's policy, or on you directly. Full liability and workers' compensation coverage protects you as the property owner, not just the company doing the work. It's the difference between a smooth project and a situation that outlasts the job by months.

Arbor Max carries full insurance coverage on every job across our service area. That applies whether we're doing a routine trim or a crane-assisted removal of a large specimen on a tight residential lot. No shortcuts, no situations where the client is left exposed.

If you've received a quote from another company and insurance wasn't discussed, it's worth asking. Legitimate contractors are always happy to provide their certificate of insurance before any work begins.

Not every tree with a structural concern needs to come down. In many cases, tree bracing and cabling is the right answer, and it's a service more Berks and Chester County property owners should know about.

Cabling installs high-strength cables between major limbs to redistribute weight and reduce the risk of branch failure during storms. Bracing uses threaded rods to stabilize co-dominant stems or crotches with structural cracks. Both techniques extend the life of trees with significant value to a property, whether a mature shade tree, a landmark specimen near the house, or a tree with sentimental importance.

These are not DIY repairs. The installation points, cable angles, and hardware specs require trained judgment to get right. Done correctly, cabling can add years of safe life to a tree. Done incorrectly, it creates a false sense of security while the underlying problem keeps developing.

Arbor Max assesses bracing and cabling candidates as part of our standard tree evaluation for properties across Reading, Montgomery, Lehigh, and surrounding PA counties.

Mid-summer is one of the most overlooked windows for tree pruning in Berks, Chester, Montgomery, and Lehigh Counties, and it's also one of the most consequential.

By late June, trees have finished their first major growth push of the season. That makes it an ideal time to remove crossing branches, deadwood, and overcrowded canopy sections before summer storm season fully arrives. Waiting until fall means carrying that structural risk through the highest-wind months of the year.

At Arbor Max, our pruning work is done with an eye toward both the immediate job and the long-term health of your tree. We're fully insured, and every assessment includes a look at what the tree needs now versus what can wait. For larger trees, our crane-assisted capability means we can work on specimens that standard equipment can't safely reach.

If you've been watching a particular tree on your Reading-area property and wondering whether it's worth getting looked at before fall, now is the right time to find out.

July in Berks, Chester, Montgomery, and Lehigh Counties brings extended heat stretches that push trees into visible stress, and a lot of property owners mistake early symptoms for something minor.

Leaf scorch, early leaf drop, and sparse canopy coverage in mid-summer are not always signs of a dying tree, but they are signs worth investigating. Heat and drought stress weaken a tree's resistance to insects and disease, and what looks like a cosmetic issue in late June can become a structural problem by fall. Species common to the Reading area, including oaks, maples, and ash, each show stress in different ways.

Arbor Max provides assessments that look at the full picture: soil conditions, root zone health, canopy structure, and evidence of secondary pest or fungal activity. If a tree can be stabilized and preserved, we'll tell you. If removal is the safer path, we'll tell you that too, along with what that project actually involves on your property.

Getting ahead of summer stress is always more affordable than responding to failure after a storm.

Here's something every homeowner should know: never top a tree! 🚫🌳

Tree topping – the practice of cutting back large branches to reduce a tree's height – might seem like a quick fix, but it actually does serious long-term damage. It leaves trees vulnerable to disease, decay, and structural instability, ultimately shortening their lifespan and creating safety hazards on your property.

The good news? There are proper, professional alternatives that achieve your goals without harming your trees!
