A privacy planting doesn't have to be a wall of shrubs. You can use different heights, colors, and textures to block a view while keeping your landscape interesting.

This will work for hostas and other ornamental plants that get eaten by slugs!

Slug Trap! Slugs have been a huge problem in my garden this year. They love to hide in the leaves and eat my basil, lettuce, and peas. In the ornamental gardens, they decimate the hostas. So, we’ve instituted the beer-bait slug trap. Just sink a container into the mulch, add an inch or two of beer, and dump dead slugs out daily. My slugs seem partial to a good ol’ Genny red eye :)
